---<< HARD TO FIND LOCATIONS >>---

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Alcatraz Depot is a Rogue base, not a prison, as the namesake implies. It's in an ice field at F5 in the California system. Be careful if the Rogues are hostile towards you, there are lots of them around there.

BTW, there are many things to discover by exploring off the beaten track, meaning off the trade lanes. Most systems have a central star or stars, and it's a good idea when exploring to make a circuit around the system to see what's out there... although there are things inside the various fields/clouds that won't be revealed until you fly around inside them: no risk, no reward.

I know that Alcatraz is in F5 in ice field...but i dont see it.Please tell me precisely where is it (almost near which asteroid) Meybe it is higher above normal stage ??

The ice field does not reduce your sensor's effectiveness like some dust clouds do... if you fly to F5, it ought to show up. You do know about zooming-in to see and select small objects more effectively, yes?

or try selecting solars or all objects, that should help

When searching for bases, put your scanner on "Solars". This will show all dockable locations that you've found. The base will show up there when you're close enough. Also, use the Nav map (F6). Select "Patrol Path Map". If you know you're looking for a neutral base, select "Neutral" in the upper right corner of the system map. This will show you the patrol paths of neutral ships. A base will have several patrol paths originating from the same spot. If you're close enough, you'll see a bunch of patrol paths converge on the same spot. Fly there and you'll find either a base or a jump hole.

If you're looking for wrecks, put the scanner on "All". Check the nav map periodically to be sure you haven't missed it. Wrecks will show up as red "X"s.

Nice site with all the pics of the systems....

I have g_BonE's Freelancer DB v0.6b. On the whole starmap, it shows a route between Leeds and Cambridge. And while it shows nothing in the Leeds system going to Cambridge, in the Cambridge system there's a jumphole to Leeds in the E3/F3 area. I notice, however, that the above site with system maps doesn't show this jumphole.

So, does it really exist? And if so, where is it? I've poked around all over the E3/F3 region of Cambridge and haven't found it yet. It would be nice to find it because you can make about $90K per round trip hauling Optronics from Planet Leeds to Planet Cambridge and hauling Diamonds back. And it's such a pain always getting ambushed in the New London system en route

try FL Datastrom ... this IS COMPLETTE

Post Mon Mar 24, 2003 5:53 pm

Hi again
I found Alcatraz (yeah!!! ) FL Datastorm - there is a lot of mistakes:it shows bad locations !!!!!!!!!! Alcatraz isn't where FL Datastorm shows it !!!
OK Alcatraz was easy to find but try to find any Jumphole...FL Datastorm shows it but they aren't in the same places in the game !!!

Post Mon Mar 24, 2003 7:01 pm

they are, you seem just to be incompentent to read a map

Post Mon Mar 24, 2003 8:26 pm

I must agree that Datastorm Locations arnt totaly accurate, but they are close !

Post Mon Mar 24, 2003 8:30 pm

Many bases/jumpholes can be found by setting your map to partol routes either friendly/neutral/or hostile and looking for places where the routes converge. This will usually be a jumphole or base.

Post Mon Mar 24, 2003 10:31 pm

I know that these objects are close to it but even if i keep it in my mind it is not easy to find any object for example crashed ship with awesome stuff. FL Datastorm has a lot of errors in showing obiects.

The problem with most of the data programs (Data Storm and FL Database) is that they are based off of EVERY object in the game....However some objects are SINGLE PLAYER ONLY....and therefore will not show up in MP.

Thinking about going over to the FL Datastorm Forum and questioning that...
