Officially the worst AI ever!

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Ah, I disagree, the AI isnt that bad, I fully understand why they made it so AI doesnt recharge shields and hull, combat would simply be way too long, it would be a slow paced shootout to see wholl run out of bats/nanos first. Many a time, as I fly up to a hostile station with my sabre I hear incoming patrols retreating from their home turf. But, anyway, imagine having to kill 6 Titans (and each holding 73 bats.nanos) how long would that take you? maybe a good half hour or so?. And one thing I really want from the AI in this, welp, I want them to attack in bigger packs I wanna be able to fly out then get trailed by about 20 GMG and get in a huge firefight. Nonetheless I ALWAYS get cruise disrupted, just a few minute ago I was flying from about 3-4 GMG Falcons because I didnt feel like fighting at the time, Whenever I hit cruise they fire a few CD missles at me, man, after about 7-8 times I just turned around, kill them all, took their cruise disruptors, fired em out the airlock and shot em...............

Does the AI react at all in regards to they type of ships the players are flying? If, for instance, I'm flying escort for a buddy in a freighter, will the AI go after the fighter by default? I'm curious about just how much protection an escort fighter can actually provide. If all of the AI immediately goes for a freighter, there's little an escort can do to stop them.

lol we must have all heard the bugging out voice..... besides, you dont know what youre gonna get when you disrupt the lane, i guess when youre expecting the train with diamonds or gold under light escort, a pissed-at-being-stopped Eagle must come as quite a shock to the system

besides if the AI was as good as the original poster wanted, once youse got yer mits on pretty much any VHF they wouldnt trouble you, especially when there are freighters to hit... like "highlander" where mccloud is walking around saying "why doesnt anyone fight me"

oh and mods bend the ear of DA for more varied missions in the first patch plz... that and correct the cambridge-leeds "oneway jumphole" thing

The AI could use some work. It wasn't that noticible in the early stages of the game, but towards the end, EVERY DAMN NOMAD INTERCEPTER WOULD SHOOT AT ME AND ONLY ME. I swear to god, all my so called wing men were shootin at them, but they see my ship and wanted me to die...wtf?

Also, at the end levels (im gonna go activate the hyper gates next), I HAVE NO MONEY. 4 or 5 missions in a row without a chance to do some missions on the side, and I can't even sell my loot on the Osiris, WTF! They need to make a patch that gives you money after each mission at the end, or give you the supplies for free. The later missons are all the same "go here, blow this up, maybe get this, fight your way out, and all that while you alone are getting shot at by 15 ships at least. OBVIOUSLY I'm going to use my missles, mines, and shields. And now I have a full cargo of gold, h-fuel, and silver that i pillaged...and I can't even sell the crap to buy some more missiles or shield.

That was a terrible oversite on the partr of digital anvil, they should have seen this comin. Or am I the only broke one at this point?

I think they did kind of provide for people not having a lot of money at that stage of the game. It's probably not unusual that players upgrade to the Anubis HF for those last missions, and you might have noticed how inexpensive the Order fighter and Order weapons are compared to what gear like that would normally cost... because it's all for the "cause". But, it's a good idea to build up some credits before embarking on the last missions, just so you can keep your supply of missiles, torps, nanobots, batteries, etc., all topped off. And, although it can sometimes be a bit too hectic to tractor-in the equipment dropped by killed enemy fighters in those big battles, if you do manage to hit "B" now and again, you can sell the stuff at the Osiris equipment dealer.

Yes yes... I hear the I'm bugging out line all the time when I get lane hacked and then the dufas pilots fire at me. Duh, I suspect it has been a very bad day for them.

That isn't that bad, it is the flying thru a system minding my own business and some "I feel lucky" pilot will shoot a disruptor at me. Aggrivated by this obvious aggression I am forced to hunt the dogs down.

Yes! I too wish that at least the "Aces", and I use the term VERY loosely like DA, would use thier shield batteries and nanobots.

Also, Crash-Drive, the tactics performed by all npcs are the same. Next version lets all hope that they have a difficulty slider that really challenges a player. I would love that it would take me and a few friends in MP to actually complete a 200k mission.

They should hire the fell that developed the AI for Black `n White for the next version. Oh yeah, learning enimies, that would be sweet! Hoik!

the reason low level hostiles attack you once you get very high leveled is because it would get boring if no one attacked you. could you imagine flying through liberty with the police and navy hating you but they just sit there and do nothing, the only places you could be attacked would be the border worlds.

I wasn't conjecturing on how their rank (rookie, ace, etc.) changes their tactics, but on the influence it may have on their tendency to get scared and run away.

Post Tue Mar 25, 2003 1:20 am

Maybe they could give veterans a shield generator and aces 3 or something. At least it'd make them slightly less like the rookie fodder

The game is pretty easy for the most part. Lets face it forgetting all about the who gets shot at questions, the game only approaches tough when there is a scroll bar on the hostile target list and they are flying ships as good as you.

With a Sabre and level 10 shields if you're in an easy area you don't even need to bother flying. Just cut your engines and blow the crap out of them as they fly by. If you're unlucky you lose a whole bar on the shield thing.

I agree the AI needs work, how many times have you seen the cops fly into a planet and die, or the last memeber of a raiding party on fire, totally F**T forget about his 5 or so attackers kicks his bloodhound with 1 gun left into thrust and come after you - just jumped into the system, empty cargo hold, lvl 10 everthing titan - and watch him blow up before getting near you? the hell is that about ---> bad AI , you can make up some nice fiction that the pirate was stoned or bla bla whoteva, the fact is thats crappy ai , not a human response in the slightest, and it happens - but i still think the games a good start in this new genre and we should support the first attempts so they (developers) can learn what we really want

ps, does it seem there are more criminals than all the civilians & cops & army put together , how would this economy run with 75% of the population being criminals?
