how to get heaps of cargo

I've recently found the best way to get the most cargo from transports. Blowing them up gives you almost nothing but if you fly underneath transports you'll see cansiters or crates. Shoot those and when they explode you get heaps of cargo. And as long as you're hitting the cargo you don't damage the transports. And as for the trains, just hit those big cargo areas at the back.

NB: If the transport doesn't have any crates or cansiters it means it has no cargo and if you blow it up you will get nothing. But you can just scan it beforehand anyways.

I want to try this one one of the LARGE Trains I saw in a Tau system, optimized for "carrying ridiculous amounts of cargo"

Tell me how it goes, because every time I blow up the containers instead of(or before I blow up the transport if I'm feeling evil)destroying the transport outright I get a full cargo haul, and this was with that frieghter which has the 275 cargo capacity.
