race mission 6

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

How to win?
Theories vary, but a good try seems to be to NOT activate your cruise engines (then your opponent wont do it as well) and fly the course that way. Or simply try it several times - often enough the enemy racer AI makes some stupid mistake and falls back a considerable step.

As for "wchich ship" - it doesn't matter since by default, all ships are equally fast in Freelancer, no matter if its a fighter or freighter - the only thing is that some of the more 'bulky' ships handle a bit worse (turn/pitch/yaw).

I don't know about that. I did it with cruiser engines blazing the whole way and it was easy as pie. The AI guy was pretty dumb. I just popped into cruise model, ****ed in front of him, and stayed there the whole way. Oh and I did it in a Cavalier. Nice fighter for a light weight.

Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a larger target selection.

i had to try a few times, and finally considered coming online to seek help cuz my ship (cavalier) kept turning for some odd reason. wat i did is that at first, i rolled up the cruise engines, and then coming back to my *superior* handling skills back in Starlancer, and the application of the numerous races i've been in other racing games, and concentrating on making the shortest time for each hoop, (i.e, keep sharp and turn right after each hoop to face directly at the next hoop) concentration will get you there, as the other guy has the factor of centrifugal force acting on him, seeing that he flies some heavier fighter.

practice makes perfect.

presently, my world is upside down, so if u do not mind, u'll have to tok to my a$$

I did it on my first try in a Cav. While the guy was talking i pressed control-w or what ever the button is to you press to go into cruise *its become second nature so i dont pay attention lol*. Any way i pressed cruise during the cutscene and as soon as i had control it went into cruise control, unless i was just lucky to press it as soon as the cut scene ended. And i didnt have to make any really hard to turns, just use strafe, it works very well and look past the rin infront of you to see where it is so you can judge the quikiest and easiest way of gettin there with very little turning. Hope it works for ya.

I finished it first try in a crusader. It was easy as cake with my cruise engines. Near the end I fell behind cause I went the wrong way to a gate. I caught up and won though. Try playing it and just looking ay what gate you go to next then next time u play it youll know where to go and will do better at getting lined up with a gate.

Yea, as soon as the race started i put on my cruise engines and did it first time!!

I tried in a heavy fighter a few time and had no luck. The other guy allways seemed to get a lead. I traded for a light fighter and doing everything else the same won first time. It was probably the better handling, but I also wondered if there was any difference in the speed at which the cruise engines activate? Every time I raced I used them.
