Avoiding the Reception Comittee

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Avoiding the Reception Comittee

Often when you emerge from a tradelane you'll find yourself surrounded by enemies, who suddenly forget that they are dogfighting the cops to concentrate on you.

Try this: Punch out of the trade lane in the middle of the last segment, before you reach the last ring. Suddenly ships of all kinds, enemies included, become much rarer on the other end.

Or if you are in the middle of a fight right by a trade lane. Take the lane a few hops, punch out, and return. Often the fight is gone.

I've just started ignoring the reception committe and proceeding to the jump gate

The worst reception committes are the ones waiting on the other side of jump HOLES, since there's no easy way to escape if they have cruise disruptors (which they always do)

The reception party is particularly nasty if you're in a slug of a freighter. They're right on top of you in a swarm. No chance to prepare, just instant fur-ball at the jump gate. Cruise takes so long to charge, and they might just disrupt it, anyway... but the "burn and turn" technique often works for ditching those ugly mobs, if you've got some open space to do it.

I had to laugh one time when I came out of a jump gate into a bunch of GC and Dragon ships that were immediately all over me, and a Kusari cop started trying to scan my cargo! Man, talk about paranoia... but, after that fine example of efficient police-work, I didn't feel so bad about killing some Kusari cops to cool off my faction standing with the local outlaw groups.
