Shortcuts from the Omega systems to Liberty?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Shortcuts from the Omega systems to Liberty?

Are there any shortcuts from the Omega systems to Liberty? Always having to take the long way around the Liberty/Omega gap via Bretonia or Rheinland is a little bit annoying at times. The shortest route i've found so far was via Leeds -> Magellan -> Liberty. You save two intersystem jumps on that route (Manchester and California are skipped). But that's it. I wish i could jump directly to Magellan or Hudson from Omega 5 for example. I know you can find jumpoles easily by following patrol routes, but i found at least one jumphole (of 136 so far) that wasn't connected with any patrol routes, so there might be a shortcut very well hidden somewhere.

Incidentally, the MAgellan -> New York jump hole doesn't work on an MP server, it's left over from the SP story.

I was very disappointed about that

I think that the jump gate/hole network is too linear, it's like a highway with some entrances and intersections - there should be more ways to go directly from one side of the sector to the other.

But maybe this is just another arcade aspect of FL. The layout of the whole game is as simple as possible, so as well as the systems the whole sector is designed as a plane - Freelancer's gameplay is not 3D at all, so movement in Sirius is like movement on a map, where you head on a linear path from one point to your destination, and the jump gates are just connections between the "levels", on a map they were highways which connect different cities. It also might have been to easy if you had been able to make 10' trade runs. This not a big point since there is much more to see in FL, but I'd have liked a more complex system of "subspace movement"...
