I think Vogtland is their main base, it's the only Hessian base I found where you can get a Sabre and some expensive equipment. Plus it's conveniently (or inconveniently, depending on your rep) placed near a couple of jump holes.

The hessians don't really have a system thats really all theirs, as posted above they do have a main base, but they still share that system. Then there is the whole Hessian/Corsair war. So some systems they share (not willingly) with the Corsairs.

Hmmm, maybe it's worth mentioning that the expression "Red Hessians" dates back to the germany of the 1950's. Back then Hessen was one of the few german states lead by a left-wing government. (left wing-ish = red)

But they were in no way criminals or even terrorists.

(... unlike the 'Bundschuh', that was a secret society of revolting peasants back in the 16th century. Yeah, those FL devs put at least _some_ thought into the faction names, as werid as they may sound. ^_^)
