the FL cynic''s voice (1)

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

A small defense for FL on one point: I have had enemy ships run away upon seeing my uberness. They do judge their chances, they're just not the best judges. I've seen two ships turn tail and run without ever firing a shot at me. I can't recall ever having any more than that flee; but then I've rarely flown anything all that powerful. (I've flown every VHF, but typically I just take them for a quick joy ride before trading them back in for a freighter.)

I can wipe out any system in the game
and I still get attacked by low level pea toters ;p

Yup, some of your potential opponents say stuff like "Not engaging enemy. They're just too tough right now" and run away.

Level 4 Liberty Rogue against Lvl 38 Ubership with uberweapons.....

Sounds like the AI may have a David and Goliath complex going on.....

The AI should gage better it chances...

You know, if the AI didn't attack you anymore when you're sitting in a fully equipped class 10 ship, the game would feel kinda boring

I mean, seriously, aside from a few nomads, corsairs and outcasts there would be no one who would even *think* about attacking you.

but man .. wouldnt it be fun to have to chase a whole slew of ships around a system ? ;p

Post Thu Mar 20, 2003 9:50 pm

Hmm, lemme think... no.
Imagine you're getting a mission like "kill the X ships at Y". And as soon as you arrive they turn around and run for their lives in four different directions. It'd take you haf an hour to track all down. O_o

But still I must agree that it feels rather weird to see a pack of Startrackers taking on my modified Eagle.
I always suspected that it's only a dim line between courage and stupidity, but this is just hilarious...

"Hey look! It's a Titan! And it's all alone!"
"But we're just on Startrackers!"
"Cummoooon, we're five and this guy is all by himself! We can do it! Don't be such a coward!"
"Oh what the heck..."

Yep, it sure is weird when some of these guys kindly knock on my shields with the most useless equipment the game has to offer, but hey - I feel even better with my class 10 stuff now

One fun thing to do is get an eagle, equip it with the fastest firing level 10 weapons you can find and unequip your shield. Then go and pick fights with things that you normally decimate. Also get rid of all your nano bots
adds a little bit of a challenge to the game
