What An End!

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

What An End!

Woo!
I just completed the SP portion of FL. Must say it was quite a ride, there are so many times when I thought I would die, then somehow, I manage to fulfil the mission objectives.

The Dyson's Sphere was great. I thought it was nice of them to include some theorised "thing". Anyway, does FL (Specifically, the Nomad ships) remind you of Titan A.E.? (Assuming you guys watched it). I thought I saw a strong resemblence between FL and the movie.

The end of SP marks the beginning of a new chapter. Somehow, I feel peeved that I'll never see Tobias, Orillion, King or Juni ever again (I need more Juni!!). This is kinda sad. Hope they come up with an Expansion Pack of sorts to extend the storyline.

Just my two cents, thanks for listening.

Ya, it was pretty fun. Left me wanting more also.

Yeah, I had the same experience, many times, VERY close to dying, then suddenly, I pull through, or like when you were backed up in Liberty by the Lane Hackers, I thought I was toast. It's fun to continue even afterwards.

To be honest I didn't really "get" the ending.

I mean, I have this superpowered alien egg thing. I blow up some shield generators (And I thought I had one generator left to blow up). Then the devices starts charging uncontrollably. Then I shoot it at the city thing. (how do you aim it?). Then there's a bunch of flashing lights and... the nomads die, or fly away, or fall asleep, or turn into flowers, or something. But they're not gone for good. oh no.

Didn't really make sense.

I liked the leadup to that moment, and I like the denouement after it. But the big finale left me... what's the word... dumb.

The strangest thing I found about the ending was that I didn't know it was the ending I started to get suspisious after I kept going up level after level without anyone contacting me, and then I found out for sure once I came to this forum. Judging by what the characters say, it doesn't sound like the end. Orellian asks you to keep an eye out and says it's not over, and Juni says something about coming to get you in a while or something doesn't she? I found that during the SP bit the missions that you had to do got in the way of my fun a bit, I wanted to be left alone to do my own thing longer. Then you get a whole bunch of missions in a row with no choices involved, and then that's it. It would have been better to allow you to do your own thing earlier on in the game, to give you some plot missions to work towards, I think. The way it was ended I too wonder if they don't have some kind of expansion in mind.

Exactly.. this kind of ending opens possibility for a sequel

It wasn't the best ending of all times but i think it was kinda recognizable, especially when you take the great final music and ending cutscene into consideration. The Nomads are gone and may come back one day (FL2 ). That's an classy open end. Plus there is the change in the "Next Level Requirement" display from "next needed worth to level up" to "money to earn left before leveling up" to mark the ending of the story line as well.

Perhaps my next film will be about a talking dog who braves the harsh realities of the world in a heart warming attempt to find his rightful owners, who mistakenly thought he was dead. That way you could watch it and get a fuzzy feeling inside and when it was over you could all go f*ck yourselves." - Troy Duffy, director of The Boondock Saints

I hope they are able to use the hyper-gate system in FL2...

what would be REALLY cool is if Microsoft would keep on posting new missions in the form of small patches so u could keep on playing

Yea i just finished it like 20min ago. And i was so confused rather it was the end of the game or not lol. I checked out the missions on Liberty and it looked like the ones i got when i first started so i didnt know what happend lol. Now i liked the ending, althought i know it could have been better. In the end it didnt seem to me that the crystal was more important to the Nomads then i thought it would have been. I was expecting it to be a powerful weapon but turns out its a key. But we turn it into a weapon. Again ending could have been better. BUT! There are no if an or buts about it. There will be a expansion. All great games, and games you spend that long of a time on *4years i heard*. They will always have a expansion. Kinda reminds me of FreeSpace1-FreeSpace2 *AWSOME GAMES!*.

P.S. What is up with all the good space games starting with Free? lol

If you checked the price of the Anubis' for sale after that mission the price would have been $1100

i thought the only really hard mission in the whole game was the early one with juni when you had to fly around to some jump point to expose the traitor. got killed so many times i wanted to quit. after that everything was ridiculously easy, except for a few missions which were hard:
- the one where you had to blow up the two weapons platforms
- the one where you had to enter the stupid arch thing - well until i said heck with it and blew them up with torpedos
- the part after the sp campaign where i stupidly said to myself - hey lets go to omicron gamma to sell merchandise in my HUMPBACK believe it or not - and i was RED with both corsairs and hessians (not to mention zoners too) lol. thank goodness i was green with the bounty hunters. nonetheless i almost died 20+ times before i finally made it back to a friendly system with a half inch of hull armor left (i had recharged shield on the way back but had no bandaids left). i will NEVER make that mistake again...

I too was confused at the end...the nomads all got sucked into this thing like it was a plughole then...'they may come back someday' From where?? Where did they go and what about all the nomads across Sirius...they ALL got immediately sucked at faster-than-light speed into this thing? If so how the hell did they manage to dodge everything in their path between them and the plughole or did they rip through a couple of planets on their way?!
Then I had a short cutscene and immediately went from level 17 to 32...guess all that trading in Kusari paid off but I think the levels could have been a bit harder to gain...
