cheats/and hovis race tip

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

cheats/and hovis race tip

Hello everyone first post here. I got the game right when it came out and have finished the sp twice and enjoyed it both times. I know I have not found everything in the game and to be honest that is not all that important to me as long as I am enjoying the game. I am however interested to know if there are any cheats out there that could change the game. I am not an editor at all so dont want to risk messing up the game at all. I just want to ring the last ounce of fun out of the game. If you dont agree with cheating good for you, dont post!!!

I have noticed lots of people who have trouble with the race, just an fyi that seems very simple. Once you kind of understand how the course works always look one ring ahead. Hovis does not line up properly for all the rings and if you stay right on the inside edge of the track you will beat him everytime. I killed him with a Clydesdale on my first try.

I think the opposite, people looking for Cheats shouldn't post. Go find a cheating site.

like i said if you dont like cheating, dont. Why do we always feel like we should have a comment for everything. I paid $50 for the game and I will play it like I want to. I am posting in the correct forum and not hurting anyone with my post. If you can answer my question pls do so, if you can not then dont reply. Why is that so hard to understand?

I think you should be able to post and ask about cheats here in the spoiler forum
and I think the other person had the right to tell you his thoughts on your post
simply because this is a forum ;p

What I see alot of us useless anger or contempt

but then thats just the way things go I guess

He paid $50 for his game, if he doesn't like cheaters he has as much right to post as you do.

Post Mon Mar 17, 2003 9:22 pm

you bet he has a right to post, but whats the point? he does not like cheating in his game, good for him. I asked if anyone knew of cheats and he evidently had not, so why post saying I should not post here? Im not angry I just dont unsderstand why anyone else should take exeception to my post and the way I play the game.

Usually i find that most cheaters are between ages of 10-14. Generally young and failing to comprehend the idea of a 'challenge' or 'hard = fun'. If youre over that, and still cheat, then your brain got stuck at the 12 year old development level, only your body grew. They dont understand the idea of 'sport.' where EASY = no fun.

Like the 12 year olds who say "I finished Quake 3! I rule! God mode rules!"...Uhuuu...Then they go and play deathmatch and respawn even 3 seconds.

Cheating is for people that have no skill.

As far as I know, the only "cheat" is to change the PerfOptions.ini in My Documents\My Games\Freelancer.

Fine the area that says "DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 1.00"
Change it to 0.00 and you can't die... try smashing into planets, you'll bounce straight off again.... fly into the various stars... you'll bounce off....
and you won't take any damage from enemy ships (although they can still damage other NPC's).

NOTE: This (fortunately) has no effect on multiplayer games.

(I never tried this, but perhaps if you change DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 1.00 to something like "DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 2.00" you'll take twice as much damage from the enemy (makes for a harder game).)

Have Fun.

@Xannix

You're way to offensive to have a chance being any older than 14.

At least you're good in self reflecting ;-)

I usually finish a game without cheating, then use cheats the second time I play it just to see what they do...

I don't think cheating in a video game says anything about that particular person. Games are for fun, and whatever you wish to do in a game is fine; as long as you don't hurt anybody.

All the sentimental BS aside, the only cheat I know of this game is that you can be invicinble by editing the "PerfOptions.ini" file in the save game directory.

And for those of you who judge cheating with such hatred, what on earth are you doing in the "Spoiler's Forum" eh?

@keptn

I just cant stand idiots, thats all.

Im between 23-25 years old ....heh. Tough one eh?

Post Tue Mar 18, 2003 4:05 am

anyone wanna make a guess how old i am?

cheats actually take the fun outta the game personally i dont use cheats unless i have alraedy completed the game the first time or i accidently put my self in a no win situation, at that point, i just cheat myself past there and disable the cheat again

If he wants to cheat in single player let him, no need to bash him because he payed the same price we all did for the game and it's his right. While I don't cheat (I like the challenge), I'm glad they are available for people to use for single player only for those that want to experiment with them. No need to berate someone because they want to explore the game from a different angle with no fear of death, it's their right to do so. And because someone might want to play with god mode and infinite money for a bit doesn't mean they have no skills, maybe they just want to test every aspect of the game like the Devs do and see what makes it all tick. And half of you posting know you have experimented with some sort of single player cheat at one point or another, if you say otherwise you are just plain lying. Hell, even just coming to the spoiler board and reading and posting means you are somewhat cheating as it is.
