Convoying
If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Cnovoying in MP for me is great fun when I used to be a trader. Whenever there was a treacherous system to cross and I needed protection, I would join the formation leader (I always try to find one with escorts) then hail the formation leader and find out where he is going, if hes going same place I am, its a awesome and fun trip. Especially if you get interrupted, your treated as a part of the group, the escorts break off and go at the bad guys while you and the other cargo ships use Turret-Mouse view to soften them up for the fighters. And the great thing is, it can reap great benefits in the border and edge worlds, when a lane is interrupted, if there is absolutely no way to get back in, they head to a nearby jumphole, effectively revealing the hole to, a hole you may have had to pay 30k and above to find the location of. So not only do you have great security when crossing bad systems, but you feel like your actually in a fleet, like your an actual part of the convoy. You can see some awesome battles this way aswell. And you even find bonuses along the way, and its very easy to find people going the same place you are by using the Hail command, so far, I have just been finding out more and more about this game, and every time I do it seems to become all the more fun and deep for me.
Hey Neo...
Same thing happened last night when I found the Omicron Theta jumphole in Tau-37 (not far away from the Omicron Beta hole in the radioactive gas cloud). I took it and got my tail waxed by around 20 Corsairs in 'OT'... fortunately the autosave had saved right as I had jumped in... it sucks that when you pass through a system jump gate it zeroes out your speed and locks your mouse flight steering... I reloaded and had to hit the spacebar, gun the throttle, flip a 180 while laying down a bunch of countermeasures, dodge, re-dock with the jump hole and pray that I didn't run out of shield batteries before the jump hole kicked in! I did make it back however and promptly went to Holman to save the game (and thus all the discoveries).
Of course I wouldn't have gotten this far if I hadent dumped 150K into bribing the Outcasts for a better rep! right now only 4 factions are in the red zone rep-wise... the rest are either neutral or favorable towards me.
This convoy idea has legs though... another good trick is to hail other ships to see where they're coming from and if it is from a system you're trying to get to (but haven't yet found the hidden jump hole), form up with them and follow them back... this is a good way to find stations and hidden bases as well -- as long as your rep is neutral or favorable.

Yeah, theres a overlay for the onboard nav map which displaysd patrol paths throughout the system, then you stamp waypoints down along the way and follow them usually. This is very useful when your in a hostile system and need some peace and quiet, you could fly out to a sector with no patrol paths in it and youll be home free. very good ideas on convoying, albeit i cant really, try any of these out as i have a long time ago become a outlaw, so now many major shipping companies and house companies and administrations hate me, but its not as bad because now i have the fighter and the weapons to contend with them.
