Perishable goods?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Perishable goods?

Apologies if this is the wrong forum.

Does anybody know if there is a special technique to handling Perishable Goods, such as Luxury Foods? I bought some in a base in Bretonia space, thinking that maybe I could run them to Manhattan and make oodles of cash - but the stuff started to deteriorate as soon as I hit vacuum and barely lasted through one trade-lane hop to the next space station.

Obviously, it wouldn't survive a full-fledged jump to another system.

I was flying a fighter; maybe a freighter would be better able to handle it?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

when it detiorates it will go one by one, if you look carefully, those numbers will drop one by one...usually its not recommended to run perishable or highly perishable goods unless you can do so without losing more than 10,

"At ChangeBank, people ask us: 'How can you make a profit, if all you do is make change?' The answer? Volume."

I lose about 15 units of luxury food between Cambridge and Manhattan. If you're only buying 20 units, that's bad. If you're buying 250 units, not so big a deal.

When I visited some bar at some Japan planet, one men said that if I wan't loose my alien organisms, i must it take with some quantity of fish(?) food maybe... And in another bar another men said that if i wish carry luxury foods, i must take another (don't remember what) goodie to my cargo. I think maybe it some secret to transport perishable cargo without losts?

Well i've just made the luxury food trade run from new London to Manhattan in a Clydesdale; and made araound 120 K profit, with only a total of $ 20000 base price. I bought full load of 125, and only lost 8 of them. So 117 fresh luxury foods netting $ 1100ish each!! ( you can also make the run from cambridge to manhattan, but it will make the trade route longer, thus not more profitable. )

If we did that in a Humpback I'll net 250000 for a Trip, not bad eh.

Was just on the Elite server with some guys who referred to Cambridge -> anywhere as the "meat run". Best I've been able to make the meat run is loding 7 unit of food (175 -> 168 in a Drone).

Yesterday, I made the run from Cambridge to Hawaii. The extra markup wasn't worth it, but it was fun just for the sightseeing

It woudl be really cool if loading up, say, hydrocarbons along with alien organisms would keep them alive. But I doubt it very much.
