At lvl 38, I found about 4 waves of Nomads today. Picked up 4 Nomad Cannons and 3 Nomad Blasters.

Really seems like these weapons shoul dnot be in the game as they are just .. 'too' powerful
kind of unbalancing with the 0 energy lost and the very decent damage

actually .. now im thinking about it more i think that there are other guns wich allow you to kill quicker and therfore in the hands of a more skilled pilot would be the better way to go

I get tired of reading what most of the other people say, since there are like a bazillion threads about this little thing. I don't know how you kill the nomads, but a light touch is all you need. I picked up 8 nomad weapons in 3 waves. It is absolutely not hard, except I only seem to get cannons (got like 2 blasters).

This is SP-game at level 32 (right after I got my beloved eagle).

When you kill them, just take that last shot (not a burst). It's easy to blow up what they drop before they scatter in time for you to see it. I mean, how often do you pick up weapons from other fighters? I get loads of weapons every battle. Good money, especially with the corsair missions against the bounty hunters. Did that to get from level 28 in my falcon to level 32 in an eagle.

It's cearly not impossible. And a side note, I find battling the bounty hunters (with non-nomad weapons) a hella lot harder than an equal number of nomads. But that's just me I guess. I rarely get hit by the nomads

PS. I was carrying 4 angelittos MKII (i think) and 2 THORs when I fought the nomads. So they weren't exactly "light" weapons either.
