getting new wepons, help!

i have one questions i read that when you are fighting and kill some ship (fighter) and hold down B button you collect stuff from that ship even wepons......my question is when i do that i dont know where to go to see what i have collected or how to mount that wepon that i got if that indeed is a wepon that i get?
anyone knows please?

While in space, you can check your inventory (click the Inventory button) but you can't mount weapons. You need to dock somewhere to do that.

As for figuring out what you picked, I guess you just have to keep track of what you have and you'll notice new items being added.

Note that it's not only weapons that you can pick up, but also thrusters, commodities, missiles, or mines.
