Ranks page ?

Bargib, you had to take down the ranks page as well ? I can imagine that the search page causes a lot of stress on the server, but does the rank page also cause a lot of stress or are these things correlated with each other ?

BTW, this is just my curiosity running wild here

It's a full tablescan on the member list, and thus I thought... OK... let's try tone down the work the SQL Server on this measly machine has to do where I can..

I must say that the last days I havent had any slowdowns or time-outs at TLR.

Bargib, do we need to pitch in and buy TLR a new server? Tbird 1GHz aren't that expensive anymore

I think it just needs a new board. asp is quite harmful on ram its quite like cgi but a bit better. BarGib I porpose a new board be installed, one that uses php. Its quite fast and can hold a lot of stuff. It uses mySQL so there wont be much difference in asp databases.

Also try and trim some fat. IE: Some of the SL videos can be deleted as like now one is going to buy it again unless FL comes with a free SL for the europeans.

Believe me, I wrote 90% of the code my self, and it is highly optimized!

And the coding is part of the reason the site exsits for me...

A new server though would be nice, but I would need a tad more than those refferals bring in... I guess I would need around 1000 US$, and I think I got... hmmm.... 90 US$... A bit way to go there

On the other hand I expect the "hype-traffic" to calm down a bit again...

Yeah, but what are your expectations about the traffic when FL hits the shelves ? Don't you think TLR will get flooded even more than we have seen so far ?

Many people have been asking why there isn't a ranks page stickied at the top of each forum page. Me personaly can find a reference to the ranks page just by searching for it but there has been a lot of questions from newbies latley asking for a ranks page and i thought that i should ask for one to be stickied on their behalf.
