Too many forums

Here you can suggest and discuss changes to the Lancers Reactor website as well as provide feedback on things small or large.

Too many forums

I've said it before and i'll say it again, this place has too many bloody forums.
It's like we have a forum about eating, a forum about drinking, a forum about sleeping, a forum about working, a forum about travelling to work, a forum about travelling home from work, a forum about new shoes, a forum about old shoes, a forum about shoes that are neither old nor new, a forum about shoe laces. We have four forums that have less than 10 posts, and about 20 others could be folded into two or three forums easily.

We are looking into eliminating some and combining others in the near future.

And despite all of the forums that TLR has, there isn't one "Esquilax" forum! *Grumble*

At this point we are trying to decide if we should redo the forum layout now or after we upgrade to newer forum software.

Upgrade to newer forum software! It's a must and should eclipse all other issues!!!

This has been discussed for 3 years, unfortunately in that time all that's happened is the DB's have gotten bigger, the posts more unorganised, forum numbers increased.
No problems solved, just already bad situations (as i was led to believe) made a lot worse by not doing it!

Time to bite bullet and do it!

Easier said than done. Someone has to convert the database.

Well, it's one of those "it'll always be that hard, so it's either upgrade forum software or forever write it off".

That's why I say it's bite the bullet time... do it or forever forget it. Only issue is that the current forum software is, frankly put, crap.

good post - i agree. we could very quickly clear up some clutter by putting the dev forums out of sight (they get the least use right after dungeon siege *eyes rolling* )
