LR News CPU Load.. ???

What is up with all those fancy picture animations in the news?
My browser needs twice as long to load the page and once its loaded, it constantly needs 100% cpu and even then, most of the gfx specials dont work.

Which browser are you useing? Maxthon and Opera do pretty good on load times for me. Dial up and all

No problem for me using IE 7. The site loads immediately and all the gif files are displaying OK.
You might be going through some busy servers and routers to get to the site.

Another question, what type service do you have? Dial up, DSL, Cable? Dial ups do very due to proximity to a switching station, closer the better.

ok, load times are not effected actually, but still I have 100% cpu usage and the gfx animations do not work right.
Im on an Athlon 3000+

Could it be flash plugin related? There is flash on the main page due to someones server news or something, and I remember browsers can freeze/become un-responsive when it's a flash item.

No idea why, having no trouble here...
using Firefox though

It's definately got something to do with IE7, I just tryed it with mine and the CPU went to 100%, 30 seconds later I'm back with my usual browser Maxthon and have 4% on the CPU.

Scratch that idea, I just disabled the filters on Maxthon and and the CPU went flatout again, I'm going to play with the filters and see what causes it.

I have IE 6 and my cpu load is 38-55% but everything displays.
But in the Forums it's 0-1%

So it's not just IE 7.

And my basic setup is AMD x2 3800+ 1Gb of ram, and an ATI X1950 Pro 512MB.

Oh and As a side note the Search functions in the downloads doesn't work right. I type in Freelancer UTF Editor and it gives me The Monkeys and Freeworlds, etc...

With the search, the UTF Editor may have been mentioned in the mod or its readme file.

I did a search for UTF, in the general editing forum and got the Juni tools thread and then looking in, got Download the FreeLancer UTF Editor

I already have the FL UTF Editor I was just using it as an example. (I was looking it up because I was helping someone)
