HTTP 500 - Internal server error
Internet Explorer

I keep getting this error while trying to post replies here. I think it has something to do with post length, because it accepts shorter posts but gives this error when I try to add a longer one. However, there are many much longer posts elsewhere on TLR, so it's not that I reach some limit. Even the first reply is much longer than what I'm trying to add now.

What's its cause and how can I fix it?

<edit>

In Firefox, the message is:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e31'

Timeout expired

First post of a thread should be short...the ones after can be longer

Post Mon Jun 19, 2006 11:16 am

Well, I have it that way, but it's just the opposite problem - take a look at the thread, the first post is quite long, but if I try to submit something it gives the error. Even if I just copy about 75% of the first post itself!

This responce will sound strange, but has proven true 95% of the time for me. Log off internet, and restart your computer, then come back on line. When I have had trouble posting or editing a post and can't get it to work I restart my computer and it work right then.

Try using a good browser like Maxthon at http://www.maxthon.com/

There are other good browsers out there of coarse but I have come to like Maxthon because of all the features it has. It's also the browser I use to check Lancers Reactor HTML code so if you want to view this site the way that it is intended to look Maxthon will give you the best view.

Firefox is a good browser but it has a way to go before it's ready for prime time.
It disregards some code such as autoplay = false for sound files.

This is just a suggestion, you're going to do what you want anyway...

"I'm going to make a prediction: it could go either way."

Unfortunately, none of the solutions worked. Maxthon gives the same error as IE. After restarting I was able to edit one post to its full length, but no other. More restarts have done nothing.

It's also getting worse, I've had problems adding a two-paragraph post here.

I'll wait until tomorrow, and hope it's just temporary. If not, the game will be moved. Creator, if you can somehow contact Jacob or any other admin at the forums, ask them to create a CYOF 8 board.

I see your point.
I think the problem may be one of two things.
The database has grown to over 30 gigs of data and if the server is busy such as handling a lot of download it cant add to the database.

I ran into the same problem today... just wait awhile and try again.
As you can see it accepted your last post.

Yes, I noticed that too. Sometimes it accepts, but most of the time not. And now, it's even for really short posts. However, one time I managed to submit a whole new page... well, guess I'll have to wait for the right moment.
