Sometimes in the Off Topic forum the discussions evolve in different directions so that the discussion has no more a direct relation to the original topic.

Suggestion:
The Moderators already have the possibility to lock a thread (they did not do it often in the past few weeks - thnxs). They should have the right to "split" a thread. If the discussion is meandering from topic to another in a free flow then they could insert a post (with a link and a short explanation) where they "cut" the discussion and moved it into a new thread. We could call it 'editing'.
