A Random Question Thread in OT

Browsing back, there are a couple of threads that don't seem to warrant existence on their own and some people may have questions which only need a single answer instead of an entire page.

Therefore, wouldn't it be simpler if we could filter all these minor inquiries into a single, stickied Random Question Thread somewhat like the Comical, Amusing & Nonsensical Thread?

In General Editing Chips and Accushot have threads like that to help newbies edit. It really comes down to who is willing to devote themselves to helping solve most of the questions. If no one is, the thread won't be very useful.

Hrm, not a bad idea. I'm just wondering about how confusing it could get with multiple people trying to solve multiple questions, especially technical ones. Another thing is how often do other people check the Comical thread? I know I only look at it once a fortnight, sometimes less.

As I said not a bad idea, but i'd like to make sure it would be a viable and effective option for everyone before going any further with it.

Well its like having a "News" thread; it would get far to large and confusing after a while.

@Esquilax

it would get far to large and confusing after a while

Obviously, you would quote or use @ signs, like I just did there.

Perhaps so, but not everyone follows the standard forum conventions, and there is also the fact that such a topic would most likely become extremely large, and large threads are often deleted to save bandwidth.

You're right, eventually the thread would become convoluted and confusing when it got large enough.

Perhaps if it was cleaned out once it hit 20 posts or so, and people used a bit of common sense when looking at posts...

@ET aka Evil Thing

Again that would come down to one person (in that case a moderator) who would pay particular attention to the thread. And I think for what little extra it would offer to us, the hassle would be too much greater for that person.

@SS ka Sir Spectre

How hard can it be to look at a post when it reaches 20, delete it and start a new one?
Anyone who didn't get their questions answered the first time could post again.

I think that SS is probably implying that the Mods are busy enough as it is.
