Posting Difficulties

I am having difficulty posting replies to some threads. I receive the following error;

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e31'

Timeout expired

/t/forum/post_info.asp, line 495

It has been happening a lot lately, but seems to be sporadic, as only some threads are affected. For example, I placed a post in the "Political Correctness and You" thread (Off-Topic forum), about ten minutes ago, and I tried to reply in another thread butI received the above error. I use Mozilla 1.5, however I have similar problems when using IE 6. It only happens from home over my dial-up connection. I'll check on my end to see if there are any problems.

Do you have any suggestions?

Esquilax.

PS. I hope this works...

It's ok. I THINK that I've solved the problem. That is why you can see this reply. I think that ZoneAlarm's "Web Filtering" was interfering with my posting. Everything seems to be ok now, thanks.

Doubt it's ZoneAlarm. Try clearing some cache, might help.

The site does get slow from time to time. I've been experiencing the same thing at times for 3 months at least. When Bargib took the search link off the site there was a LOT less lag time.

Stinger - I ALWAYS clear the cache everytime time I go offline. Actually, WinXP decided to play games with me last night, and I had to restore an image. Unfortunately, it was an image that I had created just after reinstalling XP in September, so I have many programs to reinstall (sigh), hopefully everything will be up an running by tonight...

SS - I noticed that TLR DOES load faster since the removal of the "Search" option, but I do not believe that the problem was being caused by a lack of bandwidth. Still, we'll see what happens when I reinstall everything again...

@Esq, well I don't know about your problem, but I didn't mean the search engine just cut down on bandwidth usage. It actually saved more CPU usage on the server which is what was slowing everything down from what I understand.

Ah, I see where you are coming from. CPU utilisation is one of the major problems with servers. Anyone can throw in a gigabit ethernet card and have a fast connection, but few people realise the importance of the CPU. It is always good to meet enlightened people .
