I don't know how difficult it would be to do this on the current forum software but could it be changed so the active topics page only displays the topics that have been active since you last visited the forums? Basically similar to a 'get new posts' button which most forum software has. The easiest way would probably be to set a cookie on every page that puts in a timestamp for it to compare to.

Only when you do a refresh of that page, the initial visit always seems to display threads in the last 10 days or so regardless of if you have already seen them or not.

Yes, it's very frustrating. EIther it's way too much, or just the stickys!
Can it be fixed to 'last 2 days' or 'last 5 days'?

If anything it should be set to your view preferences, I keep mine at 5 days.
