I've seen on several forums a option that takes you back to the last unread post in treath, could we have such thing here aswell?

Did the site use a cookie on your computer to remember where you left off?

And how was the forum structured? It doesn't sound the same structure, because if there are 8 posts in a thread and you open up the thread, all 8 are going to be marked as read, even if you only read the first.

The forum structure you talk about (in my guess) would be like this:

Whereas TLR is:

I don't think it would work very well. Unless you wish to elaborate and specify how it might work.
