A "Red Alert" to send Moderators when unruly poste
Having personally dealt with 2 lunatic posters on these forums, Uba & Hey, I hope that there could be a sub-set of moderators that didn't have admin power but had a fast access to the moderators, sort of a town watch. The fast access being better than just email.
Or posters higher than certain rank (ones who have been here awhile) have access to a sound effect (or window popup) on the admins computers to alert them to a fiendish poster on the boards. Like an IM sound or something. Punishable offense by suspension from the forums and rank demotion if abused.
It took two hours to rid Uba and an hour and a half to rid Hey. I think a faster notification time could cut that down to at most an hour, perhaps only a quarter hour. And would limit the cleanup necessary afterwords.
I hope it's something that would never have to be used. But I thought we'd never have another daffy poster running rampant after Uba.
These could even be used for when the server goes off-line, because then we posters don't have your email addresses whatsoever. Or maybe something else would work better. I don't know much about running a server and these are my simple ideas in hopes of helping prevent another situation like we had.
Maybe things are fine how they are. Anyway, you've got a terrific site and I enjoy being here!
