Speaking of Privateer like games Anyone Played Hard War?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Speaking of Privateer like games Anyone Played Hard War?

Hardwar is the closest game I've found that is most like the original Privateer.

It has the gritty feel, deep atmosphere and openendednes of the original privateer, but it takes place on one planet, (though it's huge) and all flight was interplanetary. It offered many different ways to make a living and included random missions as well as a scripted freeform story line. The game world was so big it would proably take an hour to fly from one end to the other at top speed.

Some of the cooler points to the game allowed you to own multiple ships and even buy buildings to keep them in. There were endless upgrades too! The world was so huge and devers, to find the best items you had to venture into dangerous areas. you could even call a taxi to come and pick you up and bring you areas, which was handy when buying new ships, you could leave your old one stored at your HOME BASE, letting you fly home from the dealership in the new ship.

I had bases located through out the world for quick repairs and storage of loot that I had pirated. Once you get enough loot stored at one location, you could open the base up for trading and make money on the base repairing other ships who stoped in to use the services. Everythng happened automatically so you didn't have to be there to micro manage.

After a while all you had to do is stop by your bases and pick up the money that was made while you were away doing other things.

Some of the Small details that this game incorperated would have been awsome in Freelancer!

What year did the game come out and who made it? In answer to your question, no I've not played it or even heard of it.

I came. I saw. I conquered. And sometimes get conquered.

That sounds really cool. Yeah, who made it/when did it come out? If it was semi-recent I'd love to check it out.

I think it's an older game, but I don't know more than that about it.

Guess I've got to do all the Hard Work around here.

Here's a description and here are some screenshots.

I have to admit, it does look pretty damn cool. I'd love to get my hands on a copy.

Okay, I checked out the demo a bit. This is actually quite a cool game. I'm not sure it could hold me interest today, but I think I would have been totally engrossed in it back when it was released. A shame I missed it.

Anyway, if anyone wants to check it out, but is having problems installing (like it says there's not enough hard drive space when you have PLENTY), right click on setup.exe, then properties -> compatibility tab -> Windows 95 compatibility mode box.
