The Ultimate SPACE RPG!!!!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

The Ultimate SPACE RPG!!!!

If you could make the ultimate space rpg would you include? Just imagine There where no time, Money or Tech Restrictions. I wanna know what you all think? I have hundreds of ideas. But of course I realize they probably can not be done. Still I Can Dream cant I?

-Landing On Any planet you see? And having the world open like Morrowind, Where you can roam around seeing the sites, Perhaps your on a barren desert world and you get caught in planet size dust storm, then get sand blasted to death!!

-Designing your own ships, Weapons etc.!!

Anyways I Have writers block right now, Ill Continue to add to this when Remember everything I Had thought of early.

But please tell me your ideas.

Man..they took 6 years to develope Freelancer..what your talking about would take 60 years! Until a expansion comes out to expand on the game..have fun in Freelancer for what it is....a great adventure!

Actually, no money or tech restrictions would make the game suck crap...the fun of the game is accomplishing goals and getting rewarded. If you had a game where you were just given anything it would be real boring. I just like having variety, and playing something new and different. My favorite part of getting a new game is playing it for the first time. You got all these opportunities to follow. Thats why ive given up playing the demo until i get the full version (maybe ill forget what the game was like :?) heh heh heh...

*If you have a cat and a dog in the same house, will that be a problem? Of course not, you might just have solved world hunger*

Is that not a online only game and a monthly fee biocunsumer? If so...that ends that game for a lot of players...me for one.

Yeah, it may not be possible but hey, like the guy said, you can always dream! Hell half of these following ideas will probably take away from gameplay And don't get me wrong, I love freelancer as it is

I like the idea of planet landing. Also have a humongous universe. Make it so that even though you CAN explore every aspect of everything, it would not be physically possible.

Imagine being able to walk into the 42nd story of a 50 story highrise open a drawer, take out a piece of paper, take the elevator back down, driving your car back to the space port, blasting back into space, flying 3 systems over and dropping the piece of paper on the alien planet with your name written on it.

For single player: Multiple storylines that you may or may not decide to partake in. Some storylines effect others.
Some storylines that may take place only on one planet/city

Trade: commodity supply and demand are effected realistically by everything that happens around that station/planet

Combining up with other ships more permanently than just "formation". Like actually make teammates and stuff.
A kickass AI for handling your teammates interactions with you.

Even larger scale team ups. I.E. wars
Maybe (since we're crossing games anyways) in a war during the campaign you can act as the commander and you'd control the field ala Homeworld although depending on the situation, your ships may not listen to you 100%

Customizing anything from your eye color to race to your spaceship/weapons/land car/pet to the clothes you wear

The freedom and openess of Morrowind. The world interaction of Ultima 7. The economy of X. Somehow the toolkit of NWN. All set in the universe of Traveller 2300 AD (not plain old Traveller).

Hmm... Let's see.

I don't want to explore a whole world, just the bases and there would have to be at least 2-3 bases on each planet. Definately want to walk around in 3D and talk to the NPC's. And give me a side-arm, so that I could fight off assasination attempts that would probably occur at the bases/outposts.

A huge universe with many different systems, planets, bases, etc. and some "Hidden" and "Unexplored" places.

How about being able to "sign on" for "mini-campaigns" with the different game factions? Maybe 3-5 missions a shot. Of course, you'd have the option to pick which groups you wanted to work for.

Occaisional "clean up" missions from the main storyline even after completing the primary SP campaign.

Variety of missions, both main and random. Help a ship in distress, help knock out a bandit base, help protect a convoy of cargo ships, test experimental ships and equiptment, gather intelligence, deliver top seceret plans/orders/items, go to remote regions of the galaxay to observe strange phenomena and take readings, fly a freighter for a corporation, plus the basic assasination, bring in criminal, clear out bandit type missions.

Allow you to rent a hanger so you can own more than one ship.

A realistic, dynamic economy, where some places run low on stuff, causing prices to rise and other's get overstocked, causing prices to fall. Changes should be gradual though, no drastic overnight ups or downs.

There should be alternating "Hot Spots" of Bandit activity and when you "Clean Out" an area, it shoud take a little time for them to build their numbers up in that area again (except near the bandit bases).

Unique weapons, ships, etc. that are hard to get; maybe you could "tractor" in certain derilec ships and have them repaired, or be allowed to buy some of the weapons/ships you tested.

The ability to "call for help" if you're outgunned and outnumbered in a battle, or to hire a wingman for really risky missions.

A radar to show where other ships/objects are in the nearby area.

Differing ship speeds, stats, upgrades. Ex; Light Fighter->fastest ship but can only use light->medium weapons, (which have the fastest fire rate). Can buy slight hull upgrade, but has only limited cargo area and weakest shields due to space constraints. Basically, need to give enough plusses to each ship class, to make it viable to prefer that type of ship depending on your playing style, or to keep one of each in your "hanger" for use in specific types of missions.

Make it possible to "break the law" without getting caught by giving a player 1-2 minutes to eliminate all ships that may have seen the transgression. Maybe make some "storage depot's" only lightly guarded, so that you might be able to raid them without getting caught (if you were lucky and had your timing down).

Let players "name" their ships and buy decals for them. Maybe even allow players to build their own "custom order" ship from a shipyard.

Give several "non-combat" things for players to spend their money on. Ex: an apartment/private hanger/wingman/custom ship/casino, etc.

Well, it's late and that's about all I can think of for right now, but my "Ideal" game would have all of that and probably more.

I have a good idea! Go play Freelancer and when you land on a planet, save&quit. Then load Jedi Outcast or Outcast (good game too) to play in 3rd person. When you're bored, return to Freelancer.
I personally doubt you'll play a giant 6 DVD game for long: what's the point of having a game you can never complete? Think it will be interesting to land on some god forsaken desert then walk for 4 real time hours to the nearest spaceport? The ideas you all said are good for MMORPG, not for a single player game. The universe can't be for one player.
All I want is namable ships and custom logos on them in Freelancer.
