If possible...HELP!

Okay, here's the deal. About 18 months ago, I got Wing Commander 2 Deluxe (CD w/ game, speech pack, and spec ops 1 and 2). When I try to run it, I can get all the way up to where I put my name in and callsign and then the game crashes, telling me to note the error "005." If anyone knows how to fix this PLEASE HELP ME! I have played 3 and 4 and I really want to know how the Kilrathi Saga began. I do not have the first WC, but I saw the movie and I have read three books, so I think I have a good idea about the beginning of the saga.

Here's something I'm thinking.
The game, compared to those of today is quite small. I have already paid for the game and cannot use it. Therefore, I feel that if anyone were willing to maybe take on the task of somehow compressing the entire game and sending it to me in an e-mail, ya know, someone with a cable modem or so, it would not really be piracy or anything. I mean, I already bought it. I just think the installer is a P.o.S. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyhow, I would appreciate any help anyone could offer.

Get a 486 or pentium 100 from somewhere and use that. Running dos 6.2 It works I promise. If you are like me and tend to keep your old stuff your lucky.

I have a old pentium 100 that I use to run my old dos games, and it works. All my wc games and priv games runs just fine.

So, there's no way to make it work on a newer, faster, Windows-based OS? Crap! Now I'll never know about the cloaked assassins whose attack destroyed the Tiger's Claw as well as the credibilty of the man who later became the greatest pilot in the history of humanity. Oh well.

Basically the war started (unoffically) when the Kilrathi destroyed the Confederation ship Iason and its crew and continued to attack the Confed until they decided enough was enough and declared war. If Bhurak or anyone else who knows the addy for the Claw Marks website can you please post a link? It'll explain a lot.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the help. My WC: Prophecy strategy guide I got after beating the game three times has a brief history in the beginning. Who are the Firreka? Are they in any of the games? I know they aren't in 3, 4, or Prophecy.

Firekka were a race of bird men (just like the Kilrathi are a race of cat men...go figure ). I *think* you only ran across them in WC1: Secret Missions 1. Basically, iirc, you just help them out or something, and they help you fight the Kilrathi. Dunno what ever became of them, though....

They feature in a couple of cutscenes in WC1 as well. The Cats are trying to use them for some religious ceremony or something (I might have that mixed up though)

Actually, I have been there, I believe. If not it, one like it. I got all thirteen episodes of the animated series Wing Commander Academy. Watched 'em on Windows Media Player. I remember seein' just a part of ONE episode on TV a few years back when it was on. I never saw another one until I found that website. It was pretty cool.
