Personal playing duration record

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Personal playing duration record

Once (ca 1 year ago) I played non-stop for over 23 hrs (think it was something of C&C series). Wonder if anybody else is THAT crazy (actually, I never tried to beat my record anymore - the wife's reaction after the first try was somewhat... how shall I put it... discouraging?

Well, one of my life goals I want to achieve is to break the Guiness World Record Gaming non-stop. I believe you can take a 5 minute break every hour. With games like Freelancer and Morrowind it shouldn't be so hard

LOL

No, I haven't tried anything THAT crazy before and quite frankly, the day I do such a thing is the day I'll probably be forced to put my signature at my divorce papers while some scruffy looking sniffeling weasel called a lawyer is watching every move I make as some damn hawk observing its prey

And what is the world record?

Post Wed Feb 26, 2003 12:04 pm

23 hours is crazy. I don't want to try it. I'm suffering from light RSI right now only by 6 hours computer use per day.

Post Wed Feb 26, 2003 12:08 pm

Heh he, I think you're suffering from light RSI because of something else

What the heck is that RSI? Can you die of it? ()

I rarely game longer than one hour.
But if the game is very fun, I like play it 4 times a day for an hour

I heard a guy in Korea went literally non-stop for 84 hours a few months back. He would have kept going too, but he dropped dead.

Outch! I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna try to break that record (84 hrs, I mean). Somehow I like myself better alive
Wonder what the game was?

i bet it was Starcraft, that is very popular in Korea. and i have always wanted to see how long i could play a game for but my parents have always stoped me at 8 hours or so hopefully im going to a LAN party this weekend and maybe we can break the record (overnight LAN party)

Good luck, GE, just make sure you don't wind up the same way this poor Korean guy did (j/k, man)
I once enjoyed Starcraft, but 12 units at a time is somewhat to few. Besides, the Protoss are the strongest race, and shuttles are the fastest craft (IIRC), making behind-the-enemy-lines ops highly successful. Besides, i've noticed (my experience is too limited to be taken into account, though), it's basically the war for resources - the one who grabs the most, wins.

I did do one particular marathon session while testing FL. It ran from Friday night around 4 PM until Sunday morning around 6 or 7 AM. I remember looking outside and seeing it stareting to get light, but that's about it. I can't recall why I did this.

I do know I feel asleep at the keyboard twice towards the end (stop laughing) and ended up sleeping for 24 hours straight right aftet that. I'm getting to old to do that much anymore.

To add, I did play Privateer 17 hours straight one time and finished the game in that time.
