Woohoo! Just grilled my computer!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

*We gather here to mourn the departure of a P2 233...*

Sorry to hear about it how did it happen?

Post Fri Jan 31, 2003 6:20 pm

you could get youre system fixed for pretty cheap now days

i got a new motherboard and 1000mhz amd processor for $300canadian last spring.

Post Fri Jan 31, 2003 6:29 pm

Nowadays, it's even cheaper than that.

If you only need a new motherboard and processor, you could easily get an Athlon XP 2000 w/ motherboard for less than $150.

Should've guessed that my motherboard doesn't support overclocking...

Hey, guys I am 15 years old, I mean I do not work yet...No money what so ever...

Neeevermind: fixed it by resetting the BIOS. Didn't grill it. Was just a small accident which made the screen show nothing, computer act funny and me wonder if I should cry or laugh...

Evidentally, you do.

DATD, believe me, computers are amazingly resilient these days. I've put my motherboard and processor through hell before and it still runs. LOL, I once put in a new processor and forgot to put the cooling fan back on...ran the pc for 20 minutes till the processor overheated and shut everything down. I thought I was screwed, but I let it cool for a while, put the fan on and luckily it worked.

Were you using a Pentium 3 or something? I havn't done anything like that, though I did once confuse Fahrenheit for Celsius and almost shat myself; I think my hand actually surpassed the speed of light when reaching for the power button

Post Fri Jan 31, 2003 11:56 pm

Actually I find the old 486\386's more reliable. Ive got about 20 at work that have been going for around 10 years. Built like trucks I tell ya, the most common problem I have with them is the CMOS battery going flat.

Can someone explain Fahrenheit to me? How does it relate to dgrees Kelvin or Celcius? I know that 273,15 degrees kelvin is 0 degrees Celcius but I really don't understand that Fahrenheit stuff.

Post Sat Feb 01, 2003 12:42 am

Don't try to understand it. It's a very stupid unit of measure

Post Sat Feb 01, 2003 12:43 am

I had temp scales comparisons and conversions in high school, but I managed to wipe it off of my cerebrum.

Edit:Click here

It's coming back to me now. Now can someone with brain explain why would anyone want to measure something, or anything, that range between 32 and 212? Did they just pick random numbers or something? Celsius makes a whole lot of sense to me. I can even understand the reasoning behind Kelvin. But Fahrenheit?
