A techie''s nightmare !

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

A techie''s nightmare !

Heh, I found this page quite funny. It concerns some guy's experience with malfunctioning computers from customers, heh I guess it's true what they say,"sometimes the problem with a computer is what's between a chair & the keyboard ."

This one seem to be I337t of the all, heh.

Heh,we got to admit though that during the early times of knowing about computers most or all of us probably did the same thing.I remember in my early days of thinking that the Floppy drive was for credit cards, but what do you expect I was only 6.

One of our customers has a system with a JAZ drive for storing historical data. A guy I work with got called out there because there was an error with the drive. He drove out there and went up to the computer and pushed the disc in until it clicked, then it worked like a champ. He had to write up a report and so he said something like, "disc was not inserted in drive properly". The best part of the story is we charged our four-hour minimum for him to push the disc a couple milimeters.

Those pics are priceless!
i remember when i first started using computers.
my friend was teaching me the ins and outs of changing directories.
then she told me that the only files you can run were those with a ".EXE" at the end. for the life of me i couldn't fathom why?
now it's common knowledge, and i have to remind myself that ppl aren't always computer literate.
The shame of it is, it's really hard to find GOOD material on how to start using a computer from scratch (i'm finding this out the hard way, i'm teacing my grandmother to use he computer for the first time... wish me luck! )

...Just a random thought from a random mind

It's hard sometimes to have patience when you have to explain something to someone who doesn't have much computer experience. A guy I do work for called me up one day because he was trying to start a program in DOS. It took me about fifteen minutes to talk him through what would be a thirty second operation for me. I'd say, "go to the such and such directory." He'd say, "how do I do that?" I'd say, "type in DIR and now look for an .EXE file" He'd say, "I typed DIR and nothing's happening." I'd say, "push enter" "OH!"

I guess you gotta remember that everyone has to start learning somewhere. Sure there are a lotta dense people who don't catch on fast, but it always feels good when you do something that you could do in your sleep and people treat you like you're a genius.

Minutes after I sent in that post the same guy called me and I had to talk him through the same stuff again. It's exhausting.
