Crysis
i participated in the Beta of the game, and i'm proud to say that at least one Bug was fixed due to my participation.
i got my full copy yesterday from my friendly local PC-game-shoppe and have been playing it since.
allow me to say right now, unless you have a GeForce 8800 or an AMD HD2900, you will not be able to play this game on high settings.
additionally, "Very-high" settings are only available in Vista.
in my experimentation and research, i have not found there to be any grapical advantage between High and Very-High.
with that over with, lest get onto the meaty bits. on Delta (hardest) the game is devilishly hard. ememies have very good Aim, speak Korean and will investigate noises, fire at suspected locations and spot you if your not in cover, so, the AI is very good. It is also inportant to mention that usefull things that make the game very easy, such as enemy highlighting and grenade warnings are not visible in Delta, and there is no crosshair (a LAPP is available later in the game)
in the easier difficulty modes, the AI gets reduced very quickly (basically the AI is pants on everything but Delta) and the usefull HUD elements return.
i am finding the game much more rewarding and entertaining on the Delta, and too easy on the lower modes. when i get frustrated about a particularly difficult part, i am forced to think up a solution.
those of you who played FarCry, and found the chekpoint-only-saving system excruciating will be thankfull that, while checkpoints are still present, you can quicksave and load, aswell as save normally and load.
Graphically, as you might have guessed, the game is outstanding. in many parts of the game you could swear it was photo-realistic. the textures are fantastic, and all of the models have a collossal Poly-count.
Water in this game is dynamically computed and rendered. if you jump into the water, the waves created with interfere contructuvely and destructively as they would in real life.
bushes are also pushed aside as you walk through them, and trees can be cut down/severed. foliage will be pushed aside when shot through.
gameplay wise, the Game is excellent. with the variety of weapons available (Dual pistols, Assult Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Submachine guns) all of which are well balanced, you can play in the style you want to. you can do a "Rambo" on maximum Armour, or snipe your foes from 200m away.
you could feasibly go through the whole game without having to kill more than a handfull of enemies, because of the Cloak mode.
All in All, Download the Demo, play the demo. then buy the awesome game.
(LAPP = Laser. Aiming. Point. Projector.)
