Tarr Chronicles!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Tarr Chronicles!

I am shocked to see this game has been skipped by Lancer's eye, since it's release date in the U.S is on the 17th. In fact just 15 mins ago is the first time I saw it and I am starting to fall in love.
Pretty much it is a Starlancer style dog fighting with mouse and keyboard control also like freelancer, so you won't need a joystick.
the whole story is about a Capital that gets lost and has to fight it's way against aliens!

"The missions that you'll fly in Tarr Chronicles are fairly typical for the genre, covering fighter sweeps, escort missions, and minesweeping duties. There are more than 30 missions in the single-player campaign, which is a solid amount. On the other hand, Tarr Chronicles has no multiplayer to it."
"You'll have the added advantage of being able to customize your fighter with more than 100 different parts and components. These can range from hull type to weapons, reactors, armor, shields, and more. Another neat aspect of the game is that you can salvage raw materials and use them to create entirely new parts, which adds a crafting element to the game. If this is all a bit confusing, an auto configuration button can take all the hassle out of your hands and give you the best possible ship based on what parts are available."

The release date for europe is not listed on IGN's preview w/ movies. So I don't think europe will get the chance to get it unless they find it imported.
However looking at the movies, it reminds of Starlancer with the combat, and the story from the preview looks sweet, so I am looking forward for this space game.
Enjoy!

looks ok to me, I'll prob give it a whirl. bit gutted about the lack of joystick support though, I never really liked the FL mouse control cos it lacked that visceral killing-feel of joystick control that was so lovely in WC, SL, Freespace and Tie Fighter.

I still play FS2 mods and I recommend for anyone who likes space fighter games to play the FS2 mod Battlestar Galactica: Beyond the Red Line (although it's still only a demo, the gunplay is wonderful - no silly lasers and everlasting engines, just kinetic guns and limited fuel) and I still play StarLancer and Privateer!

hang on a sec - capital ship, fighters, lost far from home, fighting their way to safety against evil alien hordes? I smell a BSG mod in the offing....

The game does support joystick.
At the very very very bottom in small letters of the gamespot review it says.. "Editor's Note: This preview previously contained incorrect information; specifically, Tarr: Chronicles will, in fact, support joystick controllers. GameSpot regrets the error."
So cool.

Downloading Demo now happy to know they have mouse/keyboard style play.

Update: Well after playing the demo I liked the controls the graphics are ok but not great and the game play is so linear it is boring. You don’t upgrade your ships you just change loadouts. I also found that if you use to high of settings it will drain your system and make it look cheese. IMO not worth a buy until it hits $10.
