Goodbye TLR and all that...
I've had a great time at Lancers Reactor, and made some genuine friends who will remain friends irl. I've also demonstrated the superiority of pious Islam over the evils of rabbitism, that Mustang is a drunken degenerate who doesn't deserve to have a country named after him, that Swiss sells rusty welded Ladas to old ladies from a portakabin near Dublin docks, that Indy's insurance policies aren't worth the used bus tickets they're written on, and that FD's beard supports a micro-ecosystem of staggering diversity. These are achievements I can take with me for the rest of my life, knowing that I've made a valuable contribution to the global store of knowledge.
I've learnt something too; it is possible to eat raw chicken and not die, it was possible for Wolfy to learn English, and Eraser's printer cartridges run out too quickly and leak everywhere when they do.
I also bought the most comfortable mattress in existence on the advice of Richard S and it gives me the best night sleep ever (should do, it cost enough!)
seriously though, it's been great fun, from back in the pre-FL days when I just used to lurk and never posted and all my questions were ignored by Bargib, right through the heady days of Helpdesk Horrors, my unveiling of the reality of day-to-day life on the frontlines of technical support; the Utopian War (won by me) and the Tawakalni Resistance War (also won by me) I'm particularly irked by the fact that I won't be able to continue to contribute to the BSG thread which I really enjoy, and of course the upside-down rodent will have the boards to himself now to spread more bad technical advice and pro-rabbit propaganda about ginger beer (don't drink it kids, it contributes to global warming!) <sigh> I even achieved the heady rank of Schmoderator, a most undeserved promotion imo but nonetheless a signal honour from BP.
But other than skanking someone's wireless connection when I'm out and about (amazing what you can do with PDAs and the right software these days!) and the odd viewing at weekends when I've got a spare moment, it's salaam aleikum from me, and wa-aleikum ussalaam from him.
Goodnight, and go with God my friends, may the Light of Allah illuminate all your paths and guide you to peace
