Goodbye TLR and all that...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Goodbye TLR and all that...

..sadly, 'tis true. As intimated recently, my work commitments are now such that I shall be moving away for most of the week and the place I'm moving to doesn't have an interweb connection, and I'm so busy at work I neither have the time nor opportunity to post on TLR. My weekends are increasingly filled with family stuff, it being the only time I've got when I'm not working. As of this weekend coming I simply won't be able to post on TLR anymore for the foreseeable future, so to all intents and purposes this is goodbye.

I've had a great time at Lancers Reactor, and made some genuine friends who will remain friends irl. I've also demonstrated the superiority of pious Islam over the evils of rabbitism, that Mustang is a drunken degenerate who doesn't deserve to have a country named after him, that Swiss sells rusty welded Ladas to old ladies from a portakabin near Dublin docks, that Indy's insurance policies aren't worth the used bus tickets they're written on, and that FD's beard supports a micro-ecosystem of staggering diversity. These are achievements I can take with me for the rest of my life, knowing that I've made a valuable contribution to the global store of knowledge.

I've learnt something too; it is possible to eat raw chicken and not die, it was possible for Wolfy to learn English, and Eraser's printer cartridges run out too quickly and leak everywhere when they do.

I also bought the most comfortable mattress in existence on the advice of Richard S and it gives me the best night sleep ever (should do, it cost enough!)

seriously though, it's been great fun, from back in the pre-FL days when I just used to lurk and never posted and all my questions were ignored by Bargib, right through the heady days of Helpdesk Horrors, my unveiling of the reality of day-to-day life on the frontlines of technical support; the Utopian War (won by me) and the Tawakalni Resistance War (also won by me) I'm particularly irked by the fact that I won't be able to continue to contribute to the BSG thread which I really enjoy, and of course the upside-down rodent will have the boards to himself now to spread more bad technical advice and pro-rabbit propaganda about ginger beer (don't drink it kids, it contributes to global warming!) <sigh> I even achieved the heady rank of Schmoderator, a most undeserved promotion imo but nonetheless a signal honour from BP.

But other than skanking someone's wireless connection when I'm out and about (amazing what you can do with PDAs and the right software these days!) and the odd viewing at weekends when I've got a spare moment, it's salaam aleikum from me, and wa-aleikum ussalaam from him.

Goodnight, and go with God my friends, may the Light of Allah illuminate all your paths and guide you to peace

"Send another Musa, to free his children from this Babylon..."

*Emerges from shadows* Ah yes, a "Goodbye" post filled with anti-Rabbitism and Tawakalnic propaganda. Who could have foreseen that? Ah well, is this the end of an era, or simply a publicity stunt designed to increase the profile of Tawakalnism and provide the foundation for a future "I'm back" thread (due to appear within the three months)? Who knows? In any case, 'ave a good'un evil Mullah, and I will send you the occasional email highlighting the latest developments in Esquilaxitavia ('tis riveting reading), and I may even discuss Typhon Mark II with you, in order that you can ratify my hardware selection and acknowledge that I'm not quite as inept as your propaganda suggests. Right, well that's about it from me. I should probably hop back into the shadows now; it's a little bright out here. *Returns to shadows*

I know we'll see you round soon enough anyway. Afterall I was gone for a year plus and still made it back. Don't forget to 'keep it real' amoungst all that corporate nonsense, allah knows a man can lose himself very quickly and be spouting pro-active synergy plans for annualised e-solutions after a good company steak. So stay bad pete.
Alaikum assalam you old git.

So long, Mr. Moderator Man... even us lurkers are gonna miss ya.

The beared one says the toweled one can't stay away too long, as he will be left wondering what happened to his sand castle and the rabbit who takes over.

At least stop by on holdays and vacations.

Goodbye Taw, you will be missed. You were a good man, with your LAPD (Long-Ass Posting Disorder) and whatnot. You've uber-pwned me on numerous occasions, and I'm still planning vengance for that.

For this, you shall be remembered by the TLR community for a good long while.

No lies, no lies, on the night before Valentines
The one who believes in Allah, departed the Grand Muhallah
He came, he saw, he conquered and more
He posted, and posted, and added to his score.
He locked topics, and moderated too
He used shiny padlocks, and made the authors blue.
If you don't believe my words, that's your own fault..-a
For on this night, departed the Grand Tawakalna
You may read this and say "oh, snap!"
It is to be expected, as I cannot rhyme worth crap.

*salutes*

Good by, good sir! May the winds of time never sallow your memories!

Post Tue Feb 13, 2007 7:11 pm

No need to say goodbye. Just lurk.

Of course, we all know the real reason why you wrap tea towels around your head and face .... it's to keep yourself from yammering away non-stop 24/7.

Don't forget, Pete: "In the end, TLR always wins." You'll be back. You know it. But until then, godspeed and good luck to you, my friend. *Snaps to attention and salutes*

No one escapes TLR!

But really Taw... it's been good having you around, and your spam will be sorely missed 'round here. The 'old guard' is now down by another... and the BSG thread will now die.

In all this, remember my sig:

Good bye. We'll miss you. ( the "we" being me and my brother, just incase he doesn't post. )

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

Hey Taw, great to see your off line life, both family and work, are going well and that you are back in full swing again. As I have like so many others not a stone's throw away slipped into lurkerdom of late your new job etc is all news to me.

Thanks for the mention in your post above by the way. I can only presume that you will hang around long enough to lap up all the praise you expect from the minions who frequent this place so I may as well let you know that the portakabin has recently had a new gas heater installed. We also got rid of the 2006 Pirelli Calender and went for a "Mrs Gearbox 2007" one for the new season. Fresh bunting adorn the permiter chainlink fence and the "Blue-rinse Monday Discount Specials" are going down very well.

Keep well mate,

Dru.
