You guys are gonna love this.

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

You guys are gonna love this.

I was at Blue's News just recently and they had a link to a story where our favorite anti-videogame attorney, Jackass Thompson, is in hot water with the Florida Bar Association. There have been NUMEROUS complaints from a lot of people about his misconduct. He even got thrown off a case. I have to say, it's about time someone got the balls to put this guy in his place. Apparently, he tried to sue the Bar Association as well. It was rapidly dismissed, by a judge who reportedly said Thompson was trying to paint a vast conspiracy against him. There's going to be a trial, but no date has been set. If you want the whole story, I believe that the link at Blues News goes to Gamepolitics.com. I think this guy's going to get disbarred, just like he deserves.

I thought this had started a while ago but I hadn't heard about him suing the Bar. Now that would be an interesting case.

Oh FINALLY. It's about time the bar dismissed that bag of hot air. But the real question is: Will people stop listening to him after he gets dismissed?

In any case, i hope they go fo an ironic sentence, like making him play the entire Half-Life series storyline all the way through.

Arania: I don't think people have been listening to this loser for a long time. If they have, it's purely for entertainment purposes.
Evil Thing: That lawsuit would have been interesting, I agree. But, I don't think it lasted very long, because the judge saw right through his bulls**t.

The guy will probably end up suing himself for ruining his own careeer and when that's thrown out he'll successfully file a counter-suit against himself for defemation of his person. Then he'll files for bankruptcy under the claim of being unable to meet the massive payout he owes himself and blame rockstar for ruining his reputation.

Unless of course he blames Janet Reno first.

And yes, I know this is a stupid question and I'm probably going to get cyber-slapped for not just looking this up but what's the Bar Association?

A group of folks that run/oversee lawyers, you pass the bar exam to become one, and they can disbar you for ethics violations.

It also tolerates horrible puns like "no-holds-Barred".

Most of these efforts run along reactionary "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!" lines. A friend from another forum perhaps put it best when describing these weird attempts to save these children's innocence:
"Innocence is a pretty word for ignorance. It's a child's moral upbringing that will effect their view of the world, not how well they're sheltered from it."

Even if we sheltered kids from all forms of violence and anything else we consider "nasty", they're going to be totally screwed over the moment they leave the protection of their parents.
