Happy Belated Birthday to Chips!!!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Yes, " 'ave a good'un" indeed Chips (damn you Aceaz, that's my line! ). And how's that Degree of your going? What are you studying again? I cannot recall I'm afraid.

My respect and best wishes, Chips. You gave a lot to the FL-Community (and to the X2/3-community too ). By the way: what's your favourite game these days ?

Post Fri Oct 20, 2006 5:40 am

Hey Chips, 'pologies for the belated wishes but obviously by my massive post count of late I aint as big a spammer as I used to be.

Hope you had a guddun.

BTW, zazie,

You gave a lot to the FL-Community
Do all of your birthday wishes end up sounding like eulogies?

Post Fri Oct 20, 2006 5:47 am

A eulogy is a funeral oration given in tribute to a person or people who have recently died.
from Wikipedia.
??
I only post in the "Happy Birthday to ..."-Threads of people important to me, so it could sound like a "Eulogy". As English is not my mother tongue the wording might not be appropriate. But - wow - do you know all of my posts by heart ?

Post Fri Oct 20, 2006 5:59 am

Nah, only kidding zaz, sorry if it did not seem so. Just the past tense used sounded really funny when I read it. Anyway, your English is too good, so good I forgot it is not your first language and judging by the linguistic skills of the Swiss probably not even your second.

Too many birthdays, not enough days to celebrate.

Cheers Chips.

Oops, i'm late for my own party

Thanks all! I was on my butt working all the actual day, not even a drink of alcohol to celebrate being old

@Esk - I'm doing a Degree in Computer Science, and for once it's going very well thanks! This is probabily because I enjoy it immensely and turn up to stuff, and find the coding quite easy to understand and acheive. Averaged 87% for my first year in all my modules, but I do think they made the exams far too easy!

This year is a lot more work, and I've got quite a few courseworks starting already, including the big group project... and with my travel arrangements it means i get about 2-3hours per night at home, the rest is traveling!

@Zazie, well - I currently play a text based browser game called OGame, it's very addictive. It sounds dull, but basically build up mines/fleet/research and destroy people's ships. it's very slow, but you can spend just a minute or two per day if you like... or many hours. It takes time to do everything, so fits in with busy timetables. It certainly isn't everyones cup of tea, but I've found it addictive, mainly due to having friends who also play it - so we all form an alliance and work together
Feel free to Google it if anyone is interested - and if you join, try either galaxy 20 or 16, and search for "Chips" - i am there .
My general gameplaying days appear to be over for the next few months. I did play some counterstrike for the past year, and a week back on Eve online - but apart from that, games just take up too much time

Post Fri Oct 20, 2006 12:55 pm

My brother-in-law played OGame for a while and said things quite similar to you. As it is real time you can spend only a couple of mins on, set up your ships to go off and attack or scout and while you are away they do the work. When you get back online you asess the results and input the next instruction.

If you don't have oodles of time it is great since you can just spend a few mins on, unlike FL where a few mins would not even get you across a system let alone through a battle but he got annoyed with the disparity in some players, I think he was Universe 12 and got totally obliterated in one night and lost the heart to start again.

I reckon if I played I would be addicted but it is a totally different idea to the FPS style I have always enjoyed.

Good news on the 87%'s btw.

EDIT: OCD typo clean up.
