Back to School

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Back to School

Well its back to school for me tommorow, but its my first day of secondary school! Wish me look!

Is it the same for anyone else here?

Post Wed Sep 06, 2006 9:36 am

Yes i have to go to school, if you'd noticed we are popular talkers to each other, thats because were friends in life!

Just remember, secondary school is...well...okay it's rubbish, but things only get better from then on. You get far more responsibility in college, then you're actively encouraged to throw it all away again in uni which is brilliant.

Good luck guys, and have fun.

yay! kids back at school! house tidy again!

until they get home again.

It's been a long time since my school days so I'm wondering do they still initiate first years or have the PC community stopped all of the fun. By initiate I mean head down the crapper and flushed.

i started college on the 21st i think it was. WAY better than the useless thing called highschool. Heck, i got so fed up with highschool i didn't even finish it.(i laughed in my head when my entire intro to psychology class stared at me when i said i was only 16) Still i'm enjoying it far more than i ever did highschool, the atmosphere, the teachers, the students...all so much better...

I started college two weeks ago, and I'm still enjoying it. It certainly is a different experience than High School. High school was a royal pain in the arse, because it basically forced on you. I graduated by the skin of my teeth. Now that I'm back in school, I actually look forward to going everyday. It's fun. Not easy, but it's fun. The teachers and the atmosphere make it worthwhile.

do schools still have sorting-hats? My youngest got into Gryffindor, like his sister, although he nesrly ended up in Hufflepuff.... now he's a second-year, they don't let them see the new first-years get sorted anymore.

My eldest is a prefect now, she has a red blazer and a shiny prefect's badge - she's so establishment! I never got to be a prefect.....

me thinks someone has been driven insane by his kiddies tales of harry potter.

Post Thu Sep 07, 2006 3:40 pm

akshuly, there is an explanation; my children go to quite an old-fashioned school which does resemble Hogwarts in some ways, and they still have four houses, with house points and all the rest of that stuff, so when the Harry Potter phenomenon took off, the kids there equated their respective houses with the Harry Potter ones - the sporty outgoing one being Gryffindor, the swotty clever one as Ravensclaw, the easy-going but a bit rubbish one for duffers became Hufflepuff, and the one nobody likes naturally had to be Slytherin In fact, some of the teachers picked up on this and have occasionally used those names themselves! And they do have a teacher called Snape, although he's a doctor, not a professor, but he does teach chemistry, the poor guy. And the other teachers call him Severus...

and like Hogwarts, because it's a posh school, they have to have loads of fancy stuff and textbooks before they start each year, special uniforms and kit, and you can only get it from specific outfitters (which cost a packet)

lmao...poor blackhole...whining about high school and its only his freshman year wait a couple years...

Post Fri Sep 08, 2006 11:05 am

blackhole, just do what i did, screw highschool, i made it through half ym freshman year before i decided to make plans for going to college next year. Highschool education could probably be condensed into about 2 years if they left out all that social life bull****. Highschool is a waste.of.time. You will NEVER find a good highschool if its run by the state, best bet is college or a private school because then you're classmates are actually playing to be there and won't screw around, make total fools of themselves and annoy the heck out of you.

I'll say again, College is the best schooling experience i've ever had. The people are nice, the classes are fun, the building is nice (Finally, air conditioned class rooms!). It's just so much better than highschool so why waste time with it?
