This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

A-Levels and associated joys.

I got my A-Level results back today. Turns out I didn't do quite enough work to get the required grades for my application. Luckily, the fine establishement that is the University of East Anglia has agreed to take me on regardless. I am now going to go celebrate by getting drunk off my ass.

See you all in the morning when I'm hungover, but still happy.

congratulations! East Anglia is a very good University - but you haven't said what you're going to be studying there. It has of course a magnificent Arts centre, designed by Norman Foster.

My daughter got her AS results yesterday, 5 'A's and 1 'B' - she takes extra subjects because 2 of her favourite subjects got dropped by the school but she kept them on independently.

Good on her, Taw. I was too lazy to go drive two hours to pick mine up so I guess (hope) the school will post them.

Oh, congratulations, Aceaz. Always bloody inconvenient when you don't get into a Uni.

I'm going to be doing a combined degree of English Literature and Film Studies, two subjects I've loved doing for absolutely ages.

Massive congratulations on your daughters results as well, wish I had the kind of energy to do that many...

@Acaez: Nice job, from what I've heard the clearing scheme doesn't sound like a lot of fun.
@TET: Lazy sod. You know they subtract a grade for every day you keep them waiting?

That's excellent Taw, she should be very proud of those results. And the decision to carry two extra subjects on, especially off her own back, is admirable.

i'd take an a-level in photography, but according to the tutor, i'd just be waisting my time, so they've bumped me up to a national diploma instead.

english lit and film studies? that's the kind of subject that I'd like to do. do remember to keep in touch when you start, so that we can discuss your course work here, stuff like that. I'm not the only omnivorous film critic around here, after all! We haven't had a decent film or book thread for ages.

Congrats to all who've taken their exams

As for Taw's comment about films - tis true... would definately make for interesting reading. I personally have about as much knowledge of films/film makers as a turnip buried underground. I enjoy my films a lot, but i am not a conniseur of them (or spelling).

However, when topics start on this place about films, I always enjoy reading and learning about obscure films, directors, style and basically an indepth interpretation of both the films, and the creators life work in films. By far and away some of the best threads here have been movie discussions

No mike...you are only an expert on the actresses!

A-levels...is that the final exams of high school?
I never could undersand that school system!

I don't why you insist on putting yourself down like that, Chips, you can discuss films very articulately when you're in the mood.

Post Sat Aug 19, 2006 4:31 am

Indeed, I'm sure Mike can describe any number of obscure films accurately and articulately in terms of the lead actress' breasts.

Sorry.

@Taw: Oh, don't worry, I'll definately keep in touch. What else am I going to do when I've got a last minute essay due?
