If You Could Play One Game For The Rest Of Your Life...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Hmm...given that the first game was called Final Fantasy you might be forgiven for not expecting a sequel. Then a second "Final" Fantasy was released, and a third; what are they on now, the eighth, ninth "Final" Fantasy? They really ought to be calling them "Intermediate Fantasy" until they're absolutely sure it's the last one.

Yes. Anyway. Back to your thread...

@Taw: Unfortunately it would never run on the p.c. I had at the time and I never returned to it later. So...blissfully ignorant of the brilliance of your privateer...Freelancer .

For me the game that started my whole interest in sci-fi games back in 1990, Wing Commander! Sure I played some sci-fi-ish games before that on the Commodore 64, but oh man what a pleasure it was when I played Wing Commander for the first time . After that there was no more turning back, I had to have the add-ons Special Ops 1+2, WC II + Secret Ops I+2, WC III, WC IV, WCP and also of course Privateer I and II and eventually all this lead me to Starlancer and Freelancer. So yeah, you could say it all started with Wing Commander for me.

Actually, I've only recently fired up Wing Commander yet again on my PC just for good old time's sake and I still found myself playing this game for hours and it still was a lot of fun. Now what game of 16 years old does that still for you huh

Good times...

^ Wow, those graphics are horrible. Oh well, graphics aren't what make a game, gameplay does.

Accus, they're making a Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3 (they released XII yet?) Soon we'll be seeing Final Fantasy DXII And Final Fantasy DXII II: Sepheroth Is Back! (Yes, AGAIN!)

As for my game though, I'm not really sure. I would say GTA: SA, but I've played that game to death. I would say World of Warcraft, but we all know MMOs only last about four or five years before they're deader than Elvis. As for a game I'd like to play for the rest of my life, I'll have to get back to ya on that.

ah, Wing Commander.. I'm so glad now that I didn't get rid of my copy of KS. Think I might be having a reprise of WC 1/2/3 tonight.

Is there any news on how the WC Saga FS2 mod is coming on? It all seems deathly quiet on that front, as does the Battlestar Galactica:Beyond The Red Line FS2 SCP mod. I've been checking out Hard-Light Productions forums but the news is hardly ever updated, unlike our own TLR where you always know what's what.

Ooh! I got it! After the 2.7 patch and 3.0 come out, then it would deffinatly be America's Army. We get vehix in 2.7, bayonetts (sp?), Javelin anti-tank missle systems, STRYKERs, CROWS, much needed bug fixes, next-gen AI, new maps, co-op against AI, a map editor when 2.8 comes out, hopefully VoIP with 2.8 or 9, the list just goes on and on.

Good ole AA, will you ever let me down? (I'll just pretend Rise of a Soldier never happened.) You're free, you have some pretty low system reqs but you can be made to look so good, you're not just another FPS with a life bar... you're THE FPS when it comes to realism in modern-day warfare, you're free, you have low system reqs, etc...

My answer is America's Army.

I'm First Sergeant. I don't have to salute you, maggot. NOW DROP AND GIVE ME FIFTY!

Spore is already out?

Post Sat Aug 12, 2006 6:29 pm

@blackhole: In-game time or out-of-game time?

If it doesnt have to be computer games, id go for the d20 Stargate SG-1 RPG (Just ordered the books, actually). if it has to be a computer game, id go for... i dunno actually... maybe spore when it comes out...

Post Fri Aug 18, 2006 2:50 am

My tastes with DnD are more simple. Just give me the standard d20 ruleset (and a reasonably DM) and I'm happy.

For computer games, EVE Online, probably. If Killa's right and all MMOs die after a few years then thats fine. Less players = less pirates = less danger = more money for me.

I'm not convinced Spore will last. As far as I can see, only the aesthetics (i.e, creatures and their associated technologies) of the game change. The core mechanic (however open ended) remains the same. Evolve, multiply, dominate, build bigass spaceship, pwn everything. (Dominate part optional)

Likewise here, i thought it was still in development. Besiges, there is no cardamine in any of those games!! I might jsut havet to say freelancer. Its lasted much longer than with me than most other games ive played.

When all else fails, tell them you want world peace.
