I need beta testers!!! (for my online space exploration RPG

Hey =) I need some beta testers for my game, Venture the Void. People are always telling me, "it's sort of like freelancer" so this seems a likely place. Actually I think it is more like Star Control 2, but then I haven't placed freelancer/starlancer (gasp!) so I don't know.

Anyhow it's an open beta and you can get it from the download page or just visit venturethevoid.com for more info. Here is a screenshot for you, or go here for more:

You don't have to pay because it's open beta. I'm planning to charge for it when it's finished beta, but it won't be a per-month thing, just a one time fee. Another thing, if anybody reads this who tried the game out over the past couple of days and had it hang on "downloading world file", just uninstall and reinstall and it should work. I did something silly with my web host that broke things, sorry

Uggh! Sorry, dudes. There was a ridiculous configuration error with my web server. It is fixed now. If you basically uninstall and reinstall it should work fine, you don't have to re-download. Basically the game fetches a world file via http and I accidentally put a http redirect which the game didn't know how to handle.

Interesting game, it's got a lot of cool ideas. Now all you need is a next-gen graphics engine and it'd be a worldwide hit.

frieghter: did you uninstall first? also, can you let me know a bit more information about what's going wrong, like, did you get a title screen, did it give you an error, or crash, or...?

Thanks! And yes, I'm working (hard) to improve the graphics. I dont' think it will quite be like, oblivion, but it already looks much, much better.

Hmn, you did what (uninstall I'd assume). Anyhow, if you wanted to, you could help me out a huge bit by sending me the file trace.txt to my email, [email protected]. trace.txt should be in the folder that you installed vex to. That will give me a lot of help in telling what might be wrong... Anyhow, thanks for trying it out. I'm going to probably release a graphically much-improved version later on this week, or next week early on.
