Anime Loves/Hates

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Anime Loves/Hates

list some anime you like and some anime you hate, you can give reasons but you don't have to. if you don't like anime, don't post - or at least tell us why you don't like it(which animes have you seen/why did they annoy you)

Good Animes:
Trigun - a serious anime with moments of levity, but not too much (ex. Naruto)
Cowboy bebop - a fun, stylish cartoon with a cool universe and characters
Dominion Tank Police(movies) - an interesting plot that actually goes somewhere
Porco Rosso - a very good example of how imaginative anime can be, and a good movie
Samurai Champloo - its mostly good, but sometimes its got a stupid educational lecture by the narrator jammed in the middle
Perfect Hair Forever - just kidding/ listen to the hotdog!

BAD animes:
Inuyasha - every character has the same head shape, and the plot device(jewel shards) was lifted from a girls cartoon (sailormoon) - also the plot goes nowhere
DBZ - again, everybody has the same head and the plot goes nowhere
Scry-ed - honestly, i don't know WTF this thing is i just change the channel
Evangelion - i don't like giant japanese robots
Naruto - taken too seriously by fans, filled with constant silly-faces and martial arts fights

Undecideds:
Full Metal Alchemist - every time i start liking this show they do something to annoy me. Ed is definitely part of that
Lupin the Third - amazing how up to date pop culture references can make an old old old show like this watchable
Big O - sometimes intriguing, sometimes irritating, this is just a very typical anime imo

as you can probably tell, most of my exposure to anime is through the cartoon network

loves

The Cat Returns (My favourite animé because of its magical fairytale quality and because irl I spotted the Italian locations that were the basis for most of the scenery)
Laputa, Castle in the Sky
Mononoke Hime
Escaflowné
Spirited Away
Spriggan
Nausicaa, Princess of the Valley of the Winds
Patlabor 1 and 2
Animatrix (not all of them)
Macross Plus
Ninja Scroll/Ninja Resurrection
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Dark Myth
Tokyo Revelation
Sailor Moon (yes I actually enjoy it despite its many many faults, it's hilarious)

Hates

Serial Experiments Lain (yes I know its idolised by anyone under 25, I thought it was a boring load of pretentious teenage angst ridden twaddle where nothing happened)
anything Final Fantasy (I really just dont see the appeal; even though they're all very well done, its like watching paint dry)
Record of Lodoss War
Urotsokidoju (self-indulgent boorishness)

and anything with elves in.

(Porco Rosso, great choice, Miyazik revisists a lot of that imagery in Howl's Moving Castle)

The only one I ever saw was Kobuto, and it surprised me, as it was R rated. Never seen it since, and other than the Final Fantasy movie, never really been interested in it.

Don't have the money to get a lot of anime on DVD, but have enjoyed watching Haibane Renmei and Grave of the Fireflies. Recently got the Serial Experiments Lain boxset, and haven't watched much of it so far.

Thought Akira was rubbish, although I've never read the manga.

Don't like all this fanservicey rubbish the mainstream tends to put out, but I've watched some of the better new series of the last year or two, although not in any legal capacity...

*shameless bump*
dunno how i forgot Standalone Complex; its actually better than the movie, esp ever since the major started wearing pants like normal special ops ppl

I gotta agree with Alpha-Leader on this.

Personally, I think Anime is all part of a giant Japanese conspiracy to take over North America and Europe by indoctrinating us through television.

aren't you're basing your judgement on the mainstream kids tv programming; but there's so much more to animé than that!
