Spaceballs- The most underrated movie i have ever seen

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

A better question is, has anyone seen him perform "Rocket Man"? Ah, it's a classic.

Anyone remember one called 'ice Pirates'? The opening sequence had me rolling for quite a while-. Starred the fellow who later did the 'Dantanna' series for TV stateside during the late seventies, about a shamus in Las Vegas. a lot of 'Adult' type jokes, and one sequence involving a robot and a princess.... but I digress.

Makes a great Sunday afternoon triple feature with Spaceballs and Galaxy Quest - If you can find it, well worth a look IMO.

Robert Urich was the fella. Never seen that film though. In fact i haven't seen him in anything since Turk 182! (apart from Lonesome Dove)

@Fred: In a similar vein to Ice Pirates there was also Tranzers , a total must based on a future Lost Angeles cop who must, if I recall correctly, go back in time to hunt a top crim. Also there was, and make no mistake folks this is prime dross, Spacehunter (Adventures in The Forbidden Zone) . It starred Peter Strauss and Molly Ringwald.

@Taw: I forgot that "Dan Tana" had also appeared in Turk 182 and Lonesome Dove . It nearly absolves him of the crime that is Ice Pirates. Nearly!

Hey!, I will have you know, Spacehunter (Adventures in The Forbidden Zone) was a very good film. The humor in it was great, especially the Chalmers/hunter talk in the opening scenes. Where he can't get the communication system to work, and gets Chalmers up to repair it. She asks what he did, and he said, "Emergency repair procedures #2" and she looked at him and said, "You kicked it?" Good stuff there.

As to Ice Pirates, there was a good romantic scenes, where Urich and Mary Crosby had a raining back drop and good music for their, ermmm romance.

@ Druid- Hm! going to have to try and find that one- kind of sounds like a Timecop/Escape from N.Y( or L.A.) cross- both drew gas in large quantities, but they're good movies when you're in the mood for the type. Have a copy of Starhunter: etc, and liked it.Just had trouble reconciling Molly Ringworm's- er, wald's character after the Breakfast Club- Socialite Gone Daring to Master Mechanic on a ship in one swell foop...

Reminded how far the' Art' of science fiction filmmaking has come.My daughter had a friend over last weekend, and the child's "Favorite Movie" was- of all things- 'Flash Gordon"!Now, that one is just too painful to watch for me, but I suppose there are some who like it ( shudders)

Well, then again, you gotta love Max von Sydow as Ming the Merciless- talk about your perfect match of actor with character...

Well, one good reason to watch Flash Gordon, the 1980 remake, is Princess Aura as portrayed by Ornella Muti.

@Indy; Correction! That and the line...

FLASH!! FLASH I LOVE YOU, BUT WE'VE ONLY GOT 14 HOURS TO SAVE THE EARTH!!!

Sheer class, shoor, where wudya get it eh?

@Fred; Tranzers is most definately a Time Cop genre, even a Terminator good guy, the second and decidedly more iffy one, but more a TIme Cop / Philip Marlow doing cartwheels in his grave type thing.

Of course, I suppose we are all far too honoured to have growed up with Tron ,Battle Beyond the Stars and The Last Starfighter to even consider them remotely pooh? No? Indeed! Pooh has to be something even less salvagable in the box office and certainly not worhty or matinee viewing many moons later.

Right now I can't quite think of anything worthy enough and at the same cheesey enough. (Earth Girls Are Easy was so bad it was neither cheesey nor "hip") So I shall leave you with a film which inadverdantly became a cult classic, slightly sci-fi in a post appocalyptic sor of vibe, and certainly not a matinee flick...

*Prepares for Gromit and Taw style general knowledge shoot 'em up*

...

But, most of all, I remember the courage of a stranger, a road warrior called Max.
(Keeping with the genreal 1980's therme I thought it best to quote from part 2, after all, part 1 was really a '70 flick.
