Is anyone actually going to buy an Optimus Keyboard?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Is anyone actually going to buy an Optimus Keyboard?

I seem to remember a topic being made about these things a while ago.

Anyway, the first time I saw this thing, I thought it was pretty damn cool. For those of you who don't know what the Optimus Keyboard is, well, what cave have you been living in for the past two years?

For those of you who do know and those of you who actually give a crap, here is a linky to the site that has information about it and images. (I'm too lazy to post the pictures.) As for the price, the site said it would cost about as much as a good mobile phone, which isn't very specific. (That could run anywhere from 100 dollars US to about 300 dollars US.) I'm not sure if I want to spend my money on one until I know exactly how much they cost and if they really work. So, my question to you is: will anyone here at TLR actually be buying one when the launch on Feb 1st? (That's about a week.)

Seen this before, but wasn't impressed that much. The one I want, is also back lit, the Saitek Eclipse Backlit Keyboard for $61.99 which is a savings.

about 6-7 months ago I contacted Lebedev Studios directly in order to negotiate a deal whereby the firm I worked for would be the sole UK importers and retailers of this product, i'd already done the same with other products. I was informed that it was still in design stage and the pictures on the web-site were of a non-functioning model; they hadn't even got anyone to make the real thing yet and Dimitri asked me if I could suggest anyone who might make it (he didnt want it made in China or the US)

Clearly he's got someone to make it, I wonder who?

They're a beautiful thing but they aren't worth that much. I told him to bring his rrp down by half.

I have been waiting for that optimus since I first heard about it almsot 1 1\2 ago in popsci.

It looks awesome.

How much does it cost?

Post Thu Jan 26, 2006 3:23 pm

you should edit your post instead of double posting. and as stated, it should be about the cost of a good mobile phone, so that's about 100 to 300 american dollars

Thank you WD, but still, for a keyboard, 100 to 300 US dollars isn't very specific. When they say about as much as a good mobile phone, do they mean just a decient camera phone (which run around a hundred dollars where I live) or the Moto Razr?

Hmmm, I don't really see the need for a keyboard like that for the home computer..lol If I'm going to spend that kind of money I'll upgrade my graphics card...

I must admit that the Optimus looks INSANELY cool, and would be invaluable in some programes where you just have no clue what the hell each key does. That and having a huge illuminated LCD keyboard under my fingertips...
But it would be a bit out of my budgeting... unfortunately

In photoshop and 3d apps I am a hotkey gur. I love hotkeys I program my Wacom to have everything where I need it and I program my Razer mouse to have everything on the keys that i need. This Keyboard is a dream come true for me
