Even More Lego...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Even More Lego...

Well its been awhile, but at the request of Taw and some friends I've taken back to the bricks once again for another project. Not Freelancer this time, sorry, but a take on a famously classic design that had some hopeful results that may see some revision in the near future. Enjoy.

And now, a fun paragraph to go with this:

Incom T-70A "X-Wing Advanced" Space Superiority Fighter

Commissioned by the Alliance shortly after the Battle of Endor, the X-Wing Advanced follows closely on the heels of the famous and wildly successful T-65 'X-Wing' fighter. Despite the lofty reputation of the original X-Wing, pilots eventually admitted that the fighter was overweight, overpowered, and an extreme challenge to handle. Many of these shortcomings arose from other systems installed that the Alliance considered to be of paramount importance: shield generators, a hyperdrive, and torpedo launchers, all things rarely found on Imperial fighter craft. With the problems of the X-Wing outlined, the Alliance approached Incom to redesign their fighter to be more user friendly. The result was the X-Wing Advanced. While this fighter retains the split x s-foil wing system of the original, it does not sport the famous four engine configuration. The design now carries two oversized engines in place of the four, granting more manageable and lightweight power. The difference in speed is made up by four maneuvering thrusters mounted on the back of the fighter, two on each lower wing. Forward canards enhance maneuverability for this ship, which is also slightly smaller than the original. It retains the same four wingtip lasers as the X-Wing, as well as the two forward mounted proton torpedo tubes. It mounts stronger shields and a modest class 1.0 Hyperdrive, with the navigational computing being handled by the R2 Astromech droid mounted behind the cockpit, to save weight. The cockpit is mounted lower and further back, and while this somewhat limits the pilot's visibilty, it offers superior protection; after all, a ship with a dead pilot cannot fight. The ship is a marked improvement over the original design and is certain to be the mainstay of Alliance forward air wings for years to come.

*Mumbles stuff about how K'nex was always more fun than Lego*

Post Mon Jan 02, 2006 8:30 am

Heathen! lego is way better than k'nex

Post Mon Jan 02, 2006 8:33 am

K'nex? And they let you be a moderator? *shakes head at the poor example to society*

Anyways, thanks all.

Legos are different these days, they come in kits to build ships and such, they give help, where as Lincoln Logs let you use imagination and didn't' change any over the years.

Post Mon Jan 02, 2006 8:45 am

You people are clearly not inventive enough. Using k'nex and legos together was the best.

Post Mon Jan 02, 2006 8:52 am

The X-Wing Advanced is just a X-Wing hot rod.Lets see you build a TIE Vampire or TIE Defender.

Post Mon Jan 02, 2006 10:23 am

nice job on the X-Wing there. Have you ever seen the kit for the Star Destroyer? Now that is a MASSIVE project. Almost makes me want to tear apart my B-Wing and Jedi fighter kits that I have. But I prefer to work in styrine, I'm modifiing a falcon model I have as well as a Star Trek Reliant model.
Cant wait to see your next project.

Blessed Be to all those that still dream of the flight to the stars.

Correct, this is little more than a hot rod, but it's my design hot rod with moving wings and retractable landing gear, not an out of the box kit. *References back to previous lego Freelancer threads showcasing my other work* The quality lego sets over the past few years has declined massively, in my humble purist opinion, as the company tries to shift to a new target audience to stay afloat. Many sets don't even contain what qualify as 'real' legos anymore. A real disappointment, but there is hope on the horizon, with projects like the ISD and even the Death Star if you get too ambitious. Maybe after college.

man you have some talent
legos do let you use you imagination i used to often build a model by the directions and then change it as i saw fit to remove design flaws then rip it apart and build something completely off the wall, but none of my models were known to stick around very long as a new design would pop-up within a week but currently my legos take up space in a shoe box in a closet at a house where i no longer live i just don't have the time to mess with them anymore

Post Mon Jan 02, 2006 8:28 pm

Legos!!! BAH! Too friggin blocky! And they have changed so much They used to be good...But...K'Nex You don't hurt yourself so easily with K'Nex Unless you're a sword swallower.

Post Mon Jan 02, 2006 9:48 pm

Parabolix... K'nex are but a foolish attempt to usurp Lego's control over the worlds share of coolness. Give up on your toy's futile quest for power. Perhaps a new TLR poll is in order to decide this issue.

Ahhh, lego. I used to check out each years lego catalogues - with increasing dismay each year. The sets and peices used to be awesome, now they only cater to all this mainstream BS, Star Wars, Harry Potter etc, and the sets are as far as I can tell designed so that a retard could put them together in 5 seconds. The only place to get *real* lego now is to order the peices directly from either lego or some other place called "brickland" or "brickworld" or something. That said there are some pretty awesome custom models displayed at www.mocpages.com and www.brickshelf.com...

I want to order one of these http://www.mechanizedbrick.com/
