In light of all of this, Scientific American published a lengthy article in their most recent issue showcasing designes for new 'fast reactors' that are remarkably more efficient (present nuclear processess waste 95 of the usable material or more I think it was), and showed designs for such a new system that are fully contained undreground, and have enough redundancy to virtually guarantee against accidents getting out of hand. Such designs are already in the process of being deployed in India and China. Time for the US (especially) and the rest of the world to get with the times here.
