The Death of Digital Anvil
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.
Hmmm, as long as you guys are on the topic, i am wrestling with the issue of how to meld the control schemes of 2 completely different genres. If any of you have read my Openlancer Design Document, you will know that i plan to make all ships, bases, and planets explorable on foot, as well as the ability to Spacewalk. However, when you are controlling a person, it is significantly different than controlling a ship and thus needs different controls. I have suggested simply changing the behavior of the keys from Accelerate to up, decelerate/reverse to down, strafe left to turn left and strafe right to turn right. However other poeple have suggested a normal FPS key control scheme. The problem is that there would be a large control gap between space and on foot. What should be do?

Hmm, and I was under the impression that near identical key controls are used for both FPS and Freelancer! W = forward, S = back, A= strafe left, D = strafe right...
mouse does the actual look around... hold on, that is both of them!
This sound like what happened to Freespace. Hard light productions or violition watch before that was going through the same thing. ON HLP now - the mods are keeping the game alive and kicking - i guess its the same here?? Who cares abt the big developers - no this is not a rant - im just saying that the modding community doesnt have to wait around for hope of a sequal when they can make ones themselves - (Dont mention Freespace 3 - its a sore point)
