Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, or Jimi Hendrix

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

i can understand a comparison between Hendrix and Zep but you can hardly class AC/DC in the same category, no matter how much you like them. They aren't even contemporary! Hendrix is late 60s/early 70s, Zep are 70s, AC/Dc are late 70s/early-to-mid 80s (yes I know theyre still going but old men in their late 40s and 50s strutting about on stage like they were 17 is embarassing, i certainly wouldnt do it, not for all the tea in China!

shoorly Pink Floyd or the Doors would have been more apt?

but to answer your question, much as I like Hendrix and Zep, I'd have to plump for Jimi. Given a bit more leeway I'd have gone for Mama Cass Elliott, because I prefer to make my own kind of music and sing my own special song even if nobody else sings along...

Taw, there's a lot of tea in China.

Also, Taw, what if no one else sings along?

between the Three... id say Hendrix all along the Watchtower

just because of his stunning Guitarplay and although he nicked quite a few, his own are also very good.

as for contemporary.. what do ya think of CCR, Creedence Clearwater Revival

Well Loc, some forlks were born, raised to wave the flag, ooh that red white and blue, but that ain't you, no that ain't you "You ain''t no Fortunate Son".

While we are thalking about "All Along The Watch Tower". Anyone else ever had the chance to enjoy Dylan's Live at The Boudikan (sp) album. Electric violins during "It's All Right Ma!" are the rocks.;

For guitar though, try some of Dave Edmunds blues tracks.

"Budokan" or Budoh-kan" Take your pick.

@Loc - CCR.... Wonderful band, excellent sound but not, IMO, at the same level of sheer instrument playing ability as Jimi or his genius of sound.

But CCR was very good at getting your heart pumping and your blood going.

CCR is my preferred "Lancing" music. Especially Run Through The Jungle, just gets dem der juscies flowin' imo.

Any JJ Cale fans out there? Kind of blue-grass, country, blues mix. He wrote Cocaine and After Midnight which were hits for Clapton. Very laid back for those moments when the more frenetic "rock" is just a wee bit too much on the noggin but you have not slipped into a Vangelis mood. Real cool guitar but might be considered too hick country without being given a propper chance by many.

bizarre question - 3 artists from completely different genres imo.

In the absence of eric, jimi steals it for me - being a blues man that is. I love Led Zep and I have fond memories associated with AC/DC, but the two don't even compare to the blues rock legend that was Mr Hendrix. I agree with Dru & Indy, Cream should have been on that list, possibly Santana, Allman Bros, John Mayall (post Eric) or Creedence Clearwater. Even Dylan or BB fit better than AC/DC.

EDIT: Dru - JJ Cale is excellent, the riff on "Lies" gets me every time.
