i see my humour escapes you, Blackhole <sigh> one has to be so literal these days... you don't really think I spelt *surely* as *shoorly* out of ignorance, shoorly? The whole point in a thread about spelling is to inject some perverse humour by making quite obvious and silly misspellings, such as Amurricuh for America, Phrantz for France, Orstraylyuh for Orstrayluh, Paranoid Hare with a 386 for Esquilax, etc.

Aslo Stacistis hvae shwon taht as lnog as the frist and lsat ltteers are the smae, and all of the ltteers are prseent, you can undrestnad the wrods prefctely.

I know at least Alpha gets that.

yup thats true, I read the whole thing without even flinching. That really makes you wonder how does the brain function...

when it comes to spelling only problem is knowing where the double letters go..wth is the difference between happening and hapening? sounds the same..

Bah, i just always make it a point to spell correctly. And if you do want to screw up on your spelling, get all the letters right, and keep the first and last letters the same.

yes, you may make it a point, but don't forget, numerous users don't have English as their first language, their first duty on boards as these, is make their point clear with the knowledge of spelling they have, being correct or not means sod all to them.

Spell checkers are nice toys, but are not really usable, since they only have a limited vocabulary, like ff said in his own sarcastic way, you'd have better luck with a dictionary

Fair enough, loc, but is it too much to ask that people distinguish "your" and "you're", "their" and "they're" etc. Maybe even "its" and "it's" if you're going the whole nine yards.
