Indy - I'll have you know fella me lad, that Typhon runs HL2 and Doom3 at 1280x960 with good speed at full detail and high detail respectively. Although he is old, I have tweaked the hell out of Typhon , and have overclocked my graphics card. The only problem is my lack of RAM (only 512M which is a bottleneck, but I'm not paying around $100 for another 512MB of DDR-333! Damn cheap MSY RAM that is made up of Samsung chips on a generic PCB *grumble*.

ff - Bah, there aren't enough slots for every spell, and you have to keep swapping items in and out. It becomes annoying after a while.

$100? Am I missing something, or is that Canadian. You can get RAM (DDR-333) for much less than that. Maybe a gig will cost you that much, but even then you're getting ripped off. Then again, maybe things are different in Au-stral-i-a.

Steve - Its supply and demand. DDR400 is cheap, but anything older than that is twice the price because it is allegedly "rarer". Eg. I can pick up some a 512MB DIMM of Kingston DDR333 for $95 AUD, but a 512MB DIMM of Kingston DDR400 is only $55 AUD or so.

Ah, but won't DDR400 work in your system the same. Aren't both 184-pin, and the only difference being it wouldnt run at its full clock speed? Or am I so confused.

Doesn't save him any money since it is best to match all memory to keep
memory errors to a minimum. So either he spends money on a full Gig or more of DDR400 memory or he adds another half Gig of DDR333 memory.

Either way, he's spending more than he wants - which is more or less the same amount of money

Steve - I could, however although some MBs can run faster RAM at lower clockspeeds, there would still be room for errors due to mis-matched RAM, and there's also no guarantee that my MB *can* use DDR400 at 333MHz.

Indy - Thank you for spelling it out using terms that I find to be the most depressing imaginable. Why don't you just tell everyone that I'm unemployed while you'e at it? *Sniffs and trudges off to study for exams*
