Hiking

Is anyone here into hiking? Like in walking trails thats 2 or more days long?
At the end of the year, My sister and some friends and I are doing the oldest and most popular walking trail in South Africa. I'm not sure about the English name, but the Afrikaans name is: "Die Otter" ...directly translated "The Seal", but as far as I know the english name is not standard. Let me see if I can find links to some pics...
Ok, this is not much and all the writing is in Afrikaans
Some details
Some more pics

Has anyone here done interesting trails or something like that? Or know about interesting trails?

We would miss the scenery Taw, how about scrambler bikes or those power quad things? That way we can catch up and get the views too!

Yep, love it. I'm off to Capel Curig, near Snowdonia for a weekend in a couple of weeks time if all goes to plan. I don't do multiday hikes very often since I don't have a tent that's very good for hiking with so I either sleep rough or bivvy if I can during the summer. That looks like a fun hike, plenty of nice views along the way and hopefully decent weather too. Have fun!

You'd struggle a bit with a car, or anything with wheels actually, cept a bisycle maybe...you have to cross two rivers I think. But I'll take lots of photos and then you can enjoy the scenery to!

Rec, they actually provide huts to live in, most hiking trails I've looked at do, but I guess it can't be too bad doing without them. As for the weather, it is summer here in December, so it will probably be very hot during the day and cold at night.
I can't wait though

Good shoes, a hiking stick, a water bottle and a light day pack and you set off. That is fun. I miss it though.

Oooh, I love to hike! I hike on mostly long term stuff, like 6+ days, 70+ miles. I hike in the Colorado Rockies, areas of New Mexico, Yosimite and Redwood National Parks in California, and a lot of stuff in my home state of Arizona. Great fun, great scenery, and a great time altogether! (Especially if you bring friends. )

quad bikes.. now there's a fun way to enjoy the countryside and not expend any effort in doing so!

ww2jacob...ooh you're making me jealous!!!
Taw...well the whole idea is to actually walk, because walking is fun...even if you feel like you're going to die if you don't reach the top of the hill/mountain/whatever now
but OK, I guess not everyone will like walking...

Walking is fun. Sunshine, fresh air. It's as close to exercise I will ever get. The stone Mountain walk, my favorite, from beginning to end is a little over 8 miles and is very nice. Beautiful view and peace and quiet.

Kind of like this guy -

driving while other people walk is fun

That isn't fun, driving through huge puddles of mud and cow dung whilst the walkers are walking past is fun...
