Chips

Which restaurant/fast food place makes the best chips(or fries for some) in your opinion?

For me, MacDonalds has the most delecious chips, no one elses comes near them. And theirs are never oily or baked in old oil. Yummy

Harvey's for me...

On a related topic, exactly why do we North Americans call them "french fries"? They're belgian...

Oh well.

ff over here they are best

MickyD's Chips, as i will now call them becuase chips are not orginaly french, are terrible. i used to love them but now they are terrible. Harveys chips are quite tasty, and much mor flavorful.

But the best chips i have had was in a pub in stirling. Then following that was a small resteruant here. Generaly fast food chips are not as good as pub chips

The Flemish (and not Belgian ships) are the best anyways

As for the fastfood chips: Burger King's (or Hungry Jack's in Australia) but not the normal ones. Those crispy ones are the best fastfood fries IMO

A local restaurant, called The Varsity, has the best fries ever, as well as the best fried onion rings. Make a meal off either easily, add a orange frosty and hmmmm

They're called "fries", not chips.

And a good chinese will always win.

yeah, but chips makes more syntactical sense. A "chip" is a piece of x; Chips are pieces of potatoes. Whereas "fry" is a verb, not a noun.

Edit: I'ma going to have to agree with DSQrn on this one. Burger king is disgusting, the fastfood equivalent of Celine Dion.

I agree wholeheartedly, BK has the best, uh, chips. Everyone else's are too limp and taste like they came from a raw potato wrapped in old burger trash crusty stuff. If this made any sense, email me.

Post Sat Mar 05, 2005 4:05 pm

I'm partial to those shoestring chips in bowls they serve at cafés.

Mmm, add a little bowl of tomato sauce and voila!

As I recall, Chips are slices that are circuler, simlilar to the US potaoe chips, about 1/8 inch thick and served in a basket and fries are long and straight, weather country which are thick, crinkle cut that are short and crinkled, and shoestring which are very skinniy, similar to Mcdees. Each will taste different from the others.
